Synopsis
Red has been trying to move on with her life. She
really has. Her first real relationship ended in disaster and she can’t muster
the energy to leave the house. Her brother Brenden and their best friend,
Gavin, are sick of it. Guilting her into a night out, Red reluctantly agrees
only to see her ex having the time of his life with another girl.
Small town
living would have it no other way. On the verge of a full blown panic attack,
Gavin steps in to provide Red the distraction she needs to forget all about her
ex. But as things quickly spiral out of control, will Red be able to keep her
feelings for her best friend a secret in order to save their friendship?

I sat back on the couch and took a deep breath. I had to
keep it cool. Drooling over Red while she’s still trying to deal with the
bullshit from Wilson is not the way to go. I could still smell that vanilla
body wash she loved so much, the steam from the bathroom carrying it out and
swirling it around my head.
I dropped the controller and turned off the television. I could see the reflection of the living room lights on the large TV set, and I could just make out a sliver of light escaping through Red’s cracked door. I watched as a shadow moved in front of the door. I turned the TV back on. I didn’t need to that guy, the guy that I usually am. If she were someone I was trying to fuck, I would have walked back to her room and watched her dress. I would have waited until she had her panties and bra on; then I would have stepped into her room and peeled them off her body.
But, Red is my best friend and that’s it. How was I supposed to know that kissing her was going to set off fireworks in my head? I hadn’t meant to kiss her, not like I did. I had just meant to maybe whisper something funny to her, or pull her close and tell her to forget about him, but all that went out the window when I pulled her close. She’s always been so strong, so tough. I can see she’s hurting, and I just wanted to take that pain away. But then she looked at me, and I lost it.
Her plump, pink lips were calling out to me. Her face was flushed and her pulse was pounding in her throat. She was beautiful. She is beautiful. Now, because of one moment of weakness, I've fucked it all up. She’s skittish around me now, and I don’t know what to do.
I haven’t thought about Red as anything other than a friend in a long time. But the more I think about it, the more I like it. We get along great, she’s smart, she’s funny, and she puts up with me. But, she’s my best friend, and her brother would kill me. And, if things don’t work out, it would fuck everything up, royally.
You don’t shit where you eat, and I'm not going to fuck my best friend no matter how good she looks getting out of the shower.
I just need to get my shit together. Quickly.

She's a huge sports fan, and can be found, during the appropriate season, screaming at the television, beer in hand, trying to make people that can't hear her run faster. My Thoughts:
Ooh ooh ooh Hot! Hot! Hot! This was definitely NOT meant for kids. It was an erotic NA story.
In Distractions Red has had her heart broken and is down in spirits. Luckily she has her brother Brenden and their mutual best friend, Gavin to help her get over it.
When she is out and sees her ex with someone new Gavin helps distract her.
The chemistry between the two of them will easily make you combust. ;-)
They each go back and forth with the should or I shouldn't I, second guessing whether they should attempt a romantic relationship and risk their friendship.
There are some surprising twists and decisions, second guessing, steamy scenes, friendship, and good characters. I especially liked Gavin.
As usual, I have to tell you when there is a cliff hanger. Be prepared to be left wanting more. I hope the next book comes soon! I may just be distracted until then.
I received an ecopy in exchange for my honest opinion. Obviously I liked it A LOT! ;-)
