Review ~ Damaged by H.M. Ward

Life sucks. And, as soon as Sidney picks up the pieces something always knocks her back onto her butt. It's never pretty, but this time is different. This time pretty isn't even the right word.

Peter is the personification of perfection. It's like he fell off his angel perch in purgatory, because let's face it--any guy that hot has got to be naughty. He was probably sent here to ruin her life.

Peter is beyond beautiful with his sexy blue eyes, dark hair, and toned body. Add in his charming wit and Peter is everything Sidney ever wanted in a man, but when things get hot and heavy Peter shows her the door. Sidney takes the walk of shame and leaves. It's the end of the worst blind date ever. Her life couldn't possibly reach higher levels of suckage, but it does.

The next morning everything comes crashing down. The insanely hot guy from last night, the one that saw her half naked, is teaching at the front of the class room.

My Thoughts:

I really liked Damaged. I'd say this should be added to all What to Read After Fifty lists. ;-)

Sidney was repeatedly raped and her family did nothing about it. They refused to believe her and instead stood by her boyfriend. No wonder she is Damaged. Right?

She did the only thing she could. She left, went to an out of the way town, worked to get a scholarship and is working her way through school as a TA. She fears that she will someday be found but in the meantime, she is trying to get over the trauma she went through and get on with her life. if only it was that easy!

On one occasion she attempts to be "normal" and double date with her friend. She looks around and doesn't see her friend but then she sees a handsome man checking her out so she sits at his table and starts flirting with him. She really feels comfortable with him and everything is going really well, maybe too well. Her friend interrupts her to tell her that she is flirting with the wrong guy. Oh was she embarrassed!

The problem is when she goes and sits at the right table, she has a panic attack and leaves.

This was just the beginning of the book and believe me it just gets more interesting!

One of my favorite parts was later in the book and involved a squirrel. lol! Too funny! I don't know what it is with squirrels in books lately.

I was drawn in from the beginning and I am now salivating for the next book.

This book is a hot somewhat complicated romantic read. ;-) I really liked it!

Although, I must caution that there are typos and misspellings. If these bother you, you probably want to wait until an updated version comes out.

Otherwise, I'd recommend this for sure! ;-)

This reminded me of Losing It by Cora Carmack which was another book that I liked.
