VBT: Review ~ Shifty Business by Olivia Hardin

Book Description:

Gerry Hinton thought she had the perfect career as an operative for the Company. Her next assignment should have been another "mission accomplished", but hell was delivering hand baskets that day.

When a little girl gives a mysterious silver box to Gerry, her world self-destructs. Suddenly under constant mental attacks, the only person who can save her is her partner, Nicky--but nothing comes without a cost. Secrets buried deep in the past begin to rise, threatening everything she holds dear.

If she can't out run her past, can she save her future?

About the Author:

When Olivia Hardin began having strange movie-like dreams in her teens, she had no choice but to begin putting them to paper. Before long the writing bug had her and she knew she wanted to be a published author. Several rejections plus a little bit of life later, and she was temporarily “cured” of the urge to write. That is until she met a group of talented and fabulous writers who gave her the direction and encouragement she needed to get lost in the words again.

Olivia’s attended three different universities over the years. She toyed with majors in Computer Technology, English, History and Geology until one day she heard the term road scholar and she knew that was what she wanted to be. Now she “studies” anything and everything just for the joy of learning. She's also an insatiable crafter who only completes about 1 out of 5 projects, a jogger who hates to run, and she’s sometimes accused of being artistic.

A native Texas girl, Olivia lives in the beautiful Lone Star state with her husband, Danny and their puppy, Bonnie.

My Thoughts:

Shifty Business is the third book in the Bend Bite Trilogy, You could read it without reading the other books in the series, but I would suggest reading them in order.

Shifty Business focused on Gerry and Nicky. They are keeping the fact that they are married from their friends. Gerry is keeping other secrets too. When she's left in a coma like state, her secret is revealed and the couple begin to have problems. Nicky wonders if his feelings are real or if she was controlling them, and if she even loves him at all.

There is intrigue, romance, and action in this book and the trilogy as a whole. I recommend it to those of you (like me) who enjoy paranormal books. There are many different supes in these stories! :-)

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. Read it! Read It! READ IT!

I honestly enjoyed the whole series and while I am sad to see it end, I am looking forward to what ever Olivia has in store for us next!

If you haven't already read the other books in this trilogy, the first book Witch Way Bends is free on Amazon and Smashwords right now! :-) Why not give it a try?

Book two is Bitten Shame and you can purhase it from Amazon or Smashwords too!

  3. Sounds interesting. I downloaded book 1 from Amazon. Will add to the To Be Read line up on my Kindle. Thanks.

I have to agree it's great to learn about a new series and have the 1st book be free. I love to read the free one, because then I know if the authors style of writing will mesh with what I like. Sometimes a good book, just isn't my cup of tea and if I've already paid money for it, then I'm sad I didn't spend the money on a book I would have liked more.

Thanks Brenda for the review and letting us know about the freebie.

  5. +JMJ+

Freebies are a good way to promote a new series, but I'm afraid I hardly ever take advantage of them. I have a huge pile of books already at home that I need to read (and a couple of ebooks!), so the last thing I need is another one for the queue.

    Maybe in the future? =)

    1. I am sure there will be more in the future. I sympathize with you as my tbr shelf is overflowing as well. I only wish I had enough will power to walk away from the books without adding more to the list.
