VBT: Review & Giveaway ~ Accidental Sex Goddess by Lexi Ryan

BLURB:

Promotions director Reese Regan isn’t a sex goddess and doesn’t want to be. But the job of her dreams requires enrollment in the renowned Sex Goddess 101. To avoid a trip to the unemployment line, Reese must pass the program and become Chicago’s next seductress—or at least fake it convincingly. Her best friend, the ruggedly sexy contractor Ben Hawk, helps her “fake” her way through the program, and the heat between them flares. When trust is broken and secrets are revealed, it appears they’ve traded years-long friendship for temporary passion. Will faking something so important cost them their chance at something real?

Excerpt:

“Me? A Sex Goddess? Seriously, can you picture that?”

You have no idea. “Fake it,” he said with a shrug. When she scowled, he grabbed her hands and squeezed. “I’m serious, Reese. It’s five steps, right?”

“Ten.”

“Okay, so you’ll do ten things, pretend you’re one of her Slut Hotness converts, and you’ll have the job of your dreams.” He shrugged again. “Fake it.”

She took a deep breath and some of the tension left her face. “Are you sure you’re not just saying this so you can see me wear skimpy clothes?”

“It’s an added bonus.”

She sighed and leaned her head against his shoulder. “Thank you, Ben.”

Ben shut his eyes and resisted the urge to pull her body close. “Sure thing.”

Tucking his chin, he buried his nose in her hair, taking a hit of her scent, that soft and feminine smell that haunted him.

She drew away. “You seem different lately. Is something wrong?”

“Work stuff is getting to me.” And it was the truth, if only part of it. “I have big plans and dad—” He cut himself off with a shake of his head. He didn’t want to talk about Hawk Construction right now. He didn’t want to talk about anything. He wanted to keep her in his arms for as long as he could get away with it.

She studied him silently for a minute. “You want more,” she said simply.

She had no idea. And for the first time since he had knocked on her door six years ago, Ben let himself consider the possibility of taking what he wanted.

My Thoughts:

Fantastic! Wonderful! Terrific! Awesome! Accidental Sex Goddess was all of these words and more! :-) You have to read this one!

These two people were meant to be but insist on being friends despite their mutual attraction. Reese loses her job and agrees to take a job with Sex Goddess Inc. . The catch is if she wants the job, she has to go through all of the steps to the program.

Ben, her best friend and unrequited love, can not believe that she is going through with it. He thinks she's sexy just as she is.

I had so much fun watching Reese's metamorphosis. Each step seemed to bring new problems or set up new scenarios. Watching Ben be jealous and realize that he wanted her kept me turning pages to see what would happen next. This book was fun, flirty, hot and romantic. I LOVED it! ;-)

The plot had friendship, hunky brothers, romance, a 10 step program, and super steamy scenes.

I whole heartedly recommend this book to everyone who likes steamy romance or those who just want to read a fun flirty story.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. I thought it was splendid!

Do you think of yourself as a sex Goddess?

I'd love to know what you're thinking. Please leave a comment!

    1. Good morning, Lyra! Thanks for stopping by today! :) You raise a good question...when does faking actually become DOING? Reese runs into that.

      Thanks for commenting!

Today's question is the easiest one to answer yet. No, I am not at all a sex goddess! ;-) LOL!!!

Anyway, I'm so glad that the book turned out to be great, because I was rooting for the characters as soon as I started reading the plot summary! =D I love Romances in which the leads start out as best friends!!!

Is it okay to ask what kind of job would require someone to study seduction--or would that be a spoiler?

    1. Good morning, Enbrethiliel! It's not a spoiler at all. The job is with Sex Goddess, Inc., as their promotions director. SGI is the company that offers the Sex Goddess 101 program, and the owner doesn't believe Reese can promote their program if she doesn't believe in it...or herself. :)
Thank you for stopping by this morning!

    2. Enbrethiliel,

I thought you guys might like that question. :D I am not a sex goddess either, though lucky for me, my husband seems to be happy! ;-)

Also though seduction does end up being part of the program, it is mostly about making the woman feel better about herself, accepting her inner beauty so to speak and helping her to figure out what she wants and go after it!

Thank you, Lexi! That makes sense. =)

A few years ago, back when I was doing a lot of freelance work, someone with a mail-order sex toy business (!!!) asked me to create the brochure for his company. It would have been a challenging experience and an interesting thing to add to my resume, but when I realised I didn't want to try any of the products in the line, I had to admit I was the wrong person for the job. (And now I know that my life isn't a Romance novel, because if it were, I would have totally gone for it and the client would have been a hottie! ;-) LOL!!!)

    4. LOL! I totally see an erotic romance premise in that scenario! :)

    2. Emily,

I think most of us will answer this question the same way. Maybe we need a Sex Goddess Inc.!

As for the title, that is what pulled me in and I am so glad that I swallowed that hook! You'll love it when you finally get to read it. :D

I want to thank Crazy Four Books for hosting a stop on my VBT and for the review. Any review starting with the words, "Fantastic! Wonderful! Terrific! Awesome!" is bound to make the author smile. :)

I'm glad my review made you smile. I just say it like it is. Turnabout is fair play and I smiled a lot while reading it. Your book was awesome. :D

Do you happen to be working on another book, perhaps with Mark and Masey??????

Please tell me that you are!

    2. Brenda,

I replied to this at work this afternoon, but I must have never hit "publish." *shakes head* Some days are like that...

But, to answer (again)....YES! I am working on Mark and Masey's story. I went into ASG not caring much about Mark (wasn't sure I liked him, in fact) and by the time I was finished, I was half in love with him and excited to write his story. :)

      Thank you for asking!

  10. Do i think of myself as a sex goddess. Not at all and won't be ever but i don't mind being myself and if someone should love me it should be for what i'm inside and as a whole not what he wants me to be or anything.

I'm curious about the various step and since Brenda loved it so much it's recommendation enough and i will add it to my list

    1. Lori,

Congratulations on the new little one! I don't think it's possible to feel sexy in those early days when our bodies aren't even our own yet and sleep is far too rare a treat. You'll get your groove back yet, no doubt! ;)

Thanks for coming by today. It sounds like you have plenty going on! :)

You're not alone. Most new moms lose that side of themselves for a little while after giving birth. When you are ready it'll all come back.

  20. I think when I was younger I thought of myself as a sex goddess, but that may have just been my inflated ego. :) Now, I just wish I got more of it to refresh my rusty skills. LOL Maybe we DO need a Sex Goddess, Inc. As a fellow, Indianian (not really a word I am sure) of the author, I am sure she is bundled in the house writing the next book (hopefully) as it is cold. I am also wondering if she happens to teach at Purdue University?

    4. Ha! I wish I could say the surgeries helped. Sadly, they haven't and I am looking forward to many more in the future. And I am only 27! This all started when I was 24. It's actually how I got back into reading. I can't do much else and I am sick of the TV. :)

    5. I feel for you Rachel. While I don't suffer regularly from back pain, my sister does and she is contemplating surgery. My niece also suffers from severe back pain. She has scoliosis and had her first back surgery when she was in her teens. I know how disheartening it can be.

I am glad that you got back into reading though. :-)
