VBT: Kiss of Fire by Rebecca Ethington ~ review

Joclyn Despain has been marred by a brand on her skin. She doesn't know why the mark appeared on her neck, but she doesn't want anyone to see it, including her best friend Ryland, who knows everything else about her. The scar is the reason she hides herself behind baggy clothes, and won't let the idea of kissing Ryland enter her mind, no matter how much she wants to.

The scar is the reason she is being hunted.

If only she knew that she was.

If only she had known that the cursed stone her estranged father sent for her 16th birthday would trigger a change in her. Now, she is being stalked by a tall blonde man, and is miraculously throwing her high school bully ten feet in the air.

Joclyn attempts to find some answers and the courage to follow her heart. When Ryland finds her scar; only he knows what it means, and who will kill her because of it.

My Thoughts:

I thought this book was riveting. Icouldn't put it down and even after I was done reading it, I was still thinking about it. :-) It is a YA book and is appropriate for readers of any age. :-)

Joclyn has been in her own world since she was bitten by something when she was five. That bite drove her father away and broke her mom's heart. She is treated differently by her peers and hides herself under big clothes. The only solid she has is her bff Ryland. The problem is that his father (who happens to be her mom's boss) doesn't like her and doesn't want Ryland around her.

There were so many twists and turns in this book that it was a constant rush wondering what would happen next. Wow! That is all I can say and it doesn't come close to describing it.

There are friendship, romance, action, danger, many surprises, and a new and wonderful type of supernatural creatures found in the pages of Kiss of Fire.

I have a concept that I'll keep to myself until I see if it will come to fruition. Let me just say that there are two guys in this book that I really like and while I prefer one, I could totally understand if she ended up with the other. It all comes back to my concept which I will share after it happens or when I can see that it definitely won't. I don't want to ruin any of the book with spoilers, that's why I am talking in circles. lol!

I recommend this to all of you who like to read about supes, especially if you're looking for something unique. :-) You'll be glad that I told you about it!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. It was fantastic and I am now eager to read book two, Eyes of Ember.

    4. It always takes longer to get a book in paperback then ebook. It sucks! Why not have them both available at the same time?

I know that in most cases, I am not willing to buy the book in both formats. That just means that I have to wait while others get to pay less and enjoy it sooner. :-(

That being said I just finished Eyes of Ember. It was just as good as Kiss of Fire. :-) I'd have bought the third book which is suppossed to be out in a few days but it wasn't on Amazon yet. :-(

    13. I know. Its nice to have a conversation like right then and there and not have to go back and remember what we were talking about. Its easier for me to get on earlier now since my mom went back to work.
Its been raining and gloomy here but lucky no lightning yet. Im just hoping my power stays on. Sometimes even with just the rain it will go out

    14. oh i guess that if she went back that means she is better ^^ and i'm really glad for that^^

    15. Thank you! :) She actually cant use her arm at all according to Dr's orders. So it made no sense for them to send her back. She has physical therapy 3 times a week for it. She moves it and stuff but even to try and lift a glass of water her arm hurts. But shes happy to be back to work but at the same time it not since she cant do anything.

    16. oh.. i see....sometimes i really don't understand your health system...she wouldn't have send back here not when she is still in such a state... it makes no sense... you can tell her that i send her positive thoughts, i wish her a full recovery( soon if possible)

    17. Thanks hun. Yea its confusing to us to. So shes just one restrictions at her job. Its through workmans comp so they have to cover everything so that could be part of the reason? I'll let her know that your thinking of her. :) You get better too missy!
