Arc. Review ~ Wish For You by Marquita Valentine and a giveaway too

From New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author, Marquita Valentine, comes the 4th book in her new adult series, BOYS OF THE SOUTH.

There's only one place in the world Lacey Evans feels normal- the roller derby track. When she laces up her skates and fastens her helmet, she's powerful and in charge. She knows exactly what to do and what to say. The rules are clear and penalties are enforced for those who don't follow them. But in the read world, she's far from powerful and in charge. She never knows exactly what to do and say. For years, she counted on one person to be exactly who he said he was--her best friend, Wyatt Tanaka. Only she changed the rules on him, without any warning, and now she's the one being punished.

Marine veteran, Wyatt Tanaka, came home to a hero's welcome. But he's hiding a secret, one that could potential destroy his life. He's doing the best he can, trying to cope with the guilt and the pain of the girl he loves pushing him away by doing all the things he'd sworn not too. Women, bars, drugs and drinking are what consume him. With Lacey's new rules, he has nothing to hold on to. Nothing to keep in from feeling dead.

Then one night, he goes too far, gets in too deep, and when the truth comes out... will Lacey keep pushing him away or help save him?

My Thoughts:

This book was a really quick read.

Wish For You is about Wyatt, a former Marine who recently returned from duty over seas and Lacey, a roller derby enthusiast whom he wants more than his next breath. Both characters had serious issues.

Those issues became compounded by secrets, misunderstandings, and a severe lack of communication on both parts at times.

There were many emotions to be felt while reading this book.

Wyatt was a character that I both liked and disliked. He had sweet moments but then he'd be a real ass when things didn't seem to be going his way. Granted he had a reason for most of his hang-ups but still it is easy to judge when you are not the one going through something.

Everyone but those two could see what was happening between them. They however kept thinking the worst about what the other was thinking. Think major mixed signals! :-(

I liked Lacey and felt bad for her. Her parents were not very caring in my opinion.

Anyway, I liked this book. I haven't read the previous books in this series and it made no difference. This book did well as a stand alone book. :-)

I received an ecopy of this book in exchange for my honest review. If you like characters that deal with real issues in ways that are not perfect, you need to read this one!

  4. Well if you liked it then I would. :) Communication is the big key in a relationship. I like stories that are realistic and people aren't perfect so I'd more than likely like this.
