Catherine walks in on her husband in bed with her best friend. What is a woman to do? It helps that she is a witch. Unfortunately, so is her husband. Before you can say spell battle, Catherine high tails it up the coast of California to clear her head. Lucky for her, she finds an Aussie hitchhiker. She's going to have to face her husband in the awaiting spell battle. Can she have a little fun with her new found boy toy, or will he get scorched in the foreplay?

Excerpt:
My husband’s arms were wrapped around her naked body. The blankets were strewn and interwoven between their legs. He was spooning her with his biceps draped over her. I stood in the doorway taking in the scene of my husband and my best friend. It was the end of the world, at least for me. But I wasn’t going to take it lying down. I should have known better than to have married a warlock.
I hit him with a force spell that knocked him up against the headboard. He fell back down and braced his hands out to catch his fall. Cassandra scrambled out of the bed, dragging the silk comforter with her. Bitch. She better get out of my way. She was next.
Rich was naked as he sat up to look at me. Normally, the abs-flash trick would work. But not now. I was too pissed off. I knew what spells he used to look like that. It was easy to fool a mortal and ex-best friend on the floor. But not me. Thing is, we were too evenly matched. I think that was the problem.
About the Author:
Marilyn is a debut paranormal romance novelist. She enjoys the characters that just don't fit in. From witches to time traveling researchers, she is letting her imagination soar to explore new worlds. Marilyn has traveled to Paris, London, Sydney, and Munich. She loves to include these in her settings. Best of all is letting her readers enjoy her adventures through the perspective of a character. She currently lives in Northern California with her husband and cat. The cat, of course, is the center of attention.

My Thoughts:
This book was extra quick, only 36 pages. It was interesting but there was just barely enough to whet my appetite. Obviously there will be more to come. This installment was clearly just the beginning.
Charlotte married a warlock who feels the need to spread his love so to speak. She is done putting up with his blatant disregard for monogamy. When she tells him it's over and that she is leaving, a battle begins...
This book felt like part of that trend where authors give you two or three chapters, charge you for it and then repeat over and over making more and more money while not quite giving you what you pay for. I abhor that trend. This book was a novella and had an ending but felt like it was anti climatic. :-( This book is only 99 cents though!
I can't really say yay or nay. It wasn't bad, there was clearly potential, but there wasn't enough going on for me to say that I liked it a lot either. How about if we mark this as I'm keeping my eye on this one?
I received an ecopy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. If this sounds good to you, grab it while it's only 99 cents!
Would you marry a warlock?

It would depend on the warlock ^^ a fiercely loyal one, devoted to me only yes one like this jerk?; never! It's already bad that he cheated but with her best friend ( what friend she is by teh way) really he has no honor at all!
ReplyDeleteif it was more than a novella i think i would have loved it but only 36pages, no thank you i will pass but the main idea, plot is tempting yes
Possibly. Like Miki said it depends on the guy.
ReplyDeleteI can't see paying even 99cents for 36 pages. It sounds like it could be a good book but I wont pay that much for something so short. Maybe if it was a whole book?
sometimes i wonder what the editor/ publishers think we are.....and still^^ you always pay cheapers than us international so imagine if you had to study abroad... reading is becoming a luxury while it should stay a pleasure affordable to all
DeleteYes its horrible what they charge you for books. :( So I shouldn't complain.
Deleteyou can complain of course^^ it shopuld be cheaper everywhere ;)
DeleteYes but its definitely easier for us to get them. But an ebook shouldn't cost as much as a regular book and for so little of pages they shouldn't charge so much.
Deleteit's free on smashword during teh promo week!!!!!!
DeleteI enjoyed the excerpt, but I agree that this novella is way too short. I really prefer longer works where both the characters and plot are fully developed. If we loved each other, I would marry a warlock.
ReplyDeleteshorts can be fun but I agree. I like my stories fleshed out more.
DeleteI sort of have a rule that I don't pay .99 or more for under a hundred pages, I like supporting authors all I can but novellas like this that are part of a series it feels that they are just trying to make money and that they don't really care for their readers.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. I'm the same. I've seen books listed with like 35 pages for 2.99. I couldn't believe that.
