October Wrap-up and November Comment Incentive Giveaway

I hope that you all had a Happy Halloween with an abundance of good treats to pick from!

I am anxious that it is November already. That of course means that Christmas is right around the corner. I am NOT ready for that!!!!

October was an extremely busy month for me. I hope that you all enjoyed the GGMMMU challenge. I will of course be posting all of the answers and winners in a few days. :-)

If you are new to the CIG, you can find the specifics here.

Just so you know, this may be the last one. There were only six or seven people who entered in October. It takes some time to add all of the posts to the Rafflecopter each day and it really isn't worth the hastle for less than ten people. :-( What I would do instead is just award the top commenter(s) a book. Same prize with no effort on my part.

If I can get more people to enter this month, then I'll continue to keep it the way it is so that more people have a chance at winning.

Now, October's CIG was Miki!

The winner of the Spooktacular giveaway was Lynne.

I'll be sending emails later. My power was knocked out in a storm which is why the post is sooo late being posted.

What monster wasn't mentioned during the GGMMMU?

  1. At this moment I think about quotation from the book " Devil May Cry" from Sherrilyn Kenyon.
The quotation is: " It's not fair to show someone the sun and then banish him from it.Even the devil may cry when he looks around hell and realizes that he's there alone."
This says Acheron, and I think how much truth there is in these words :)

    Thanks for the giveaway :)

  2. I'm not ready for Christmas too and i started in september if not earlier for some!!! and worse.....in my case i must take the shipping time into account so i have even less time^^ must finish before december at all cost^^;;

Strangely it seems that commenting contests were a little down everywhere so be rassured it's not you but i can understand the frustration after the time it take you but know that I and other i'm sure ( amber in first place) really really appreciate

now right know i can't remember what monster weren't cited... i though about golems but that's really specific... we could perhaps add some but you did quite a large selection already. however as soon as i can think about other i will let you now so you will have more inspiration^^

oh! we could put sphinx, gorgon etc in a category mythological monster but then once aghain it's perhaps too specific^^

shamans and shape shifter ( in the shaman sense so several animals or one specific but without the obligation of shapeshifter( like werewolf and the moon ) etc ... hard to explain but here i was thinking about jane yellowstone character for example)

    resume: YOU DID WELL^^^^

  3. I dont even want to think about Christmas yet! It always comes way to fast! I'm trying to think what monsters weren't done. You covered nearly all of them.. maybe succubus's?
I'm hoping November goes better for you. I know Miki and me were trying to draw more people to the contest. I hope you and your boys had a great Halloween.

    1. I appreciate it Amber.

You are right I didn't highlight those two supes, however they were both in Beneath the Veil which I reviewed during the GGMMMU.

    2. It was raining and pretty much miserable but we went out for awhile any way. Then we had a pizza party with two of my younger nephews.

    3. It was pouring here too. We had maybe 12 trick or treaters? I ended up just watching movies with a friend.
And there were mentioned. :) I totally spaced on that. I was happy how you did it though. It was very well thought out and great. Im sorry it wasnt more of a success. :(

    4. It is what it is. Those of you that participated seemed to enjoy it. It was the first year. maybe next year I can get other blogs involved or start advertizing it sooner. If each person that participated this year comes back and a couple new people enter that would be good, right?

I aim to read more of the books for next years GGMMMU. There were quite a few that I haven't read yet.

      Delete
    5. it was quite good for a first time yes and perhaps you could see if author wants to helps ( special interview, sponsoring giveaway etc) and definitively i will star advertizing earlier next time and if i can i will prepare a bunch of review too to have one for most topic ( not sure if it helps but in case)

other blog can be good but it's also a risk if they don't get their post on time etc ( example for the TBR challenge it has been decided to start on one blog after all the hiccups)

^^ i'm sure more will enter ( and there ares till time for a few giveaway^^ perhaps some enter only on sunday;))

My guess for monsters which weren't mentioned is incubi and succubi.

Oh, wait a minute. You're not asking about which one you knew you were leaving out, but about which one you might have left out? Well, in that case, I take back my answer, because I think you did a great job covering all the major bases for the GGMMMU! =D The posts were also well researched and fun, so I hope you feel proud of them!

Brenda, the reason I haven't been joining the CIGs lately is that I've been gravitating away from Romance in my reading. I still have a few Romances tucked away for when the desire to read them comes around again, but until then, I wouldn't want to compete with another commenter for a prize she may want to read immediately!

    1. I completely understand. Also, you all have lives and do not always have time to comment. I don't expect it everday. It only takes one comment to enter though. My concern is, I get a decent amount of pageviews etc, sometimes people even comment but they just aren't entering the CIG. Is it the prize?

      Delete
    2. i don't see how it could be the prize oki in a way it's a little " mystery" giveaway since we don't know which book will be featured and thus which ones we could pick from but at the end of teh month there is always a large choice with different genre so anyone could be happy

      Delete
    3. Maybe they are afraid they won't like their options?

      Delete
    4. But they pretty much get to pick so I dont think its the prizes. Unless its because its an ebook? But you could always offer like a $2 or whatever price point giftcard in exchange? I dont know. I thought they were all good options.

      Delete
    5. the ebook was only for the daily contest ( and i admit when it was only ebook i haven't entered all teh time becaus ei know some will love that more than me) for the montly giveaway it's print book if we pick that one

      Delete
    6. +JMJ+

Hmmmm. If people come and comment because of blog tours, maybe they skim over the page too quickly to know about the CIG. Perhaps it would help to write something at the end of a blog tour post like, "For another chance to win this book, you can also enter my CIG!"

      Delete
    7. There is a statement at the end of of each post!

      Delete
    8. True Enbrethiliel ^^ it's written already each time BUT perhaps the CIG needs a logo that could be added ( in case they prefer to see picture than read statement the logo could catch their interest ( sadly i'm not good to create those but just in case i could try)

      Delete
    9. oh i create a blog post, and put it in my giveaways list too i hope it will convince a few but we will see

      Delete
    10. +JMJ+

I think that the current statement is a good start, but I was wondering about the possibility that tour visitors skip over the CIG simply because they don't know that the book they want is also offered as a prize. So maybe for tour posts, the reminder could be more specific?

      Delete
    11. I follow you Enbrethiliel like add at the bottom if this really interests you, you could WIN this just for commenting and entering the giveaway.. etc..

      Delete
    12. yes and adding the logo brenda has put in her sidebar would help i think because it would catch their eyes and make them read

      Delete
    13. Something to think about? How about putting the CIG logo right at the top of the sidebar, under Giveaways. So that it's kinda the first thing people see. As opposed to where it is right now where people might think it's just some random button?

      Delete
  5. I just though about others creatures ( see i told you i would think about it and i do so we could have a good start for next year;))
    Pegasus, unicorn and centaurs

now you got valkyries in the reaper category but perhaps it's more specific ( or could be added to the title category)

^^ if i think about other i will come back to add them^^

    1. LOL though the problem would be finding enough books with those. :) But I'm sure we could come up with some.

      Delete
    2. in fact we could start right now to help ^^ we make a file with each category and as soon as we come across a book that fit one of them we had it so brenda has a data base already and loose less time checking.... we could be surprised though ^^ i already have at least 4 i thionk for this category ( pegasus etc) and one is a serie i'm planning on reviewing some later this year

    3. I will start writing them down then. :)

    1. Hi Ashley, really if you have any question don't hesitate to ask them.
i will try to clear thing but if you want to ask something more ^^ do it Brenda and amber will helps too.

the CIG is the opportunity for any commenter to win one of the book featured during the month ex you see a book reviewed bu brenda and you really want to read it if you are the winner that month you can pick it. If you see a book you want in one of her mailbox post that counts too any book appearing during the month of teh contyest ( this time all shown in november from the 1st to the 30th november) is a possible prize choice.

now that i told you what you could win ^^ let see the how. it's ultra easy you just have to complete the form here with you entry and you have 1 just for being a follower.
then for each post there is 2 kind of entry in teh rafflecopter: comment and share

comment that's easy^^ you say something more than just thanks and it works^^ however you need to enter that in the rafflecopter ( commenting on the post but not putting that you did in teh rafflecopter doesn't count).
ypu have commented here so that's already one you can put in the rafflecopter;)

the share thing for that you can use facebook ,g+ and all cited and you just put the link /proof that you did in the blank place in the entry on teh rafflecopter.

Each day when a new post is put on the blog you will see new entry on the rafflecopter related to said post

at the end on the month rafflecopter pick the winner

so you see you can have the number of entry you wish for only one for following ( two if you include you comment here) or more if you comment another day

( you don't have to pick a book from teh post you commented on either)

i hope it helps but really if you have any question we are here to answer you^^

    2. Thanks for explaining it Miki! :-)

Ashley, I hope that helps. If not, ask away!

  7. Ooo...I'd really like if you had a post on Cait Siths...aka Cats. Like Grimalkin in the Iron Fey series! LOVE him!

Thanks for all the hard work for GGMMMU!

    1. cait siths ( like tybalt too) arte more fae than simple shifters since their power sis on and on teh shadows so it's a little difficult to decide in which category to put them...
as for having one category just for them we would need several books not only two series so if you can think of more tell us

      Delete
    2. Its definitely a cool category but yes I dont think there are really enough to make one post just for them. :)

  8. Thinking of all the review books that I should read but don't want to :D

  9. I loved the GGMMMU (what an acronym!). I found out about a LOT of new books (and even new categories - I had no idea there were gargoyle novels). I'm sorry not more people entered but I really hope you'll do it again next year!
I just read Rivers of London, which has not only ghosts but also genii loci, i.e. spirits of places. Not exactly monsters, but definitely supernatural and very emphatically (at least in their opinion) not ghosts. More like gods and goddesses, I suppose, but not quite.
I think robots/ artificial intelligence could also work as monsters.

As for the CIG, I think if you decided to just draw one of the X top commenters, that would be pretty fair as well and less work for you. I'd completely understand. You could maybe change the text at the bottom of your posts to something like "Would you like to win this book? The more comments you leave on my blog this month, the better your chances!"

That could either mean that everyone only had one "lottery ticket" regardless of how many comments they make, as long as they make it into the top X, or you could assign a "ticket" to each comment, so if I comment 9 times, I get tickets 1-9, then miki comments 20 times and gets tickets 10-29 etc. Then just do a random draw. Or am I overthinking this? Any way you choose to do it will be fine, it's your blog after all!

Oh yes, and I agree - I am SO not ready for Christmas. Wasn't it summer just a couple of weeks ago? Bah, humbug ;)

  14. I think I was probably absent quite a bit in October -- not sure why, except I tried to stay away from facebook [and therefore the blogs I follow] since I seemed to be spending WA-A-A-AY too much time on it.
Therefore, I'm not even sure I know what GGMMMU stands for. Much less, know the answer to the question.
I would hate for your Incentive Giveaway to go away. But, I do have to admit, it sometimes takes me [as a reader/commenter] longer than I want to spend to find the correct "Leave a Blog Post Comment" block to enter.

    1. The GGMMu means Ghoulishly good monsterts mix mash up and it was a special halloween event each day we saw a new supernatural creature ( or a range of them) got links to free books about then, a giveaway and of course: explanation about said creature^^

also there was aall event long contest with each day questions about the creature of teh day.

i hope you will be able to participate another time since it was really fun ( but it took time yes)
