Knox Jagger. The name inspires resent in every male at Sinclair University, want in every female, and contempt in Charlie Chase.
Charlie can be summed up in three words: independent, independent, and independent. To Charlie, Knox epitomizes everything that’s wrong with college males: prolific one-night stands, drunken senseless fights, and a body that hints at prioritizing gym time over study time.
As an up-and-coming writer for Sinclair University’s newspaper, Charlie’s tasked with getting to the bottom of who’s been dropping little white pills into girls’ drinks at parties. In an ocean of All-American boys sporting polo shirts and innocent smiles, Knox is the obvious suspect. As evidence piles up against the bad boy of Sinclair, Charlie becomes more and more certain it isn’t Knox. But when her drink is dosed at a party and she wakes up on Knox’s couch the next morning, Charlie’s left with more questions than answers when it comes to Knox Jagger.
How can Charlie ever hope to uncover the truth behind a guy so closed off he’s become . . .
Hard Knox.

About the Author
I’m the New York Times and USA TODAY
bestselling author of the CRASH series (HarperTeen, S&S UK), LOST
& FOUND series, UP IN FLAMES (S&S UK), The EDEN TRILOGY, and a
handful of others. I write stories about everyday kinds of people who find themselves
in extraordinary kinds of situations. I tell love stories with happy endings
because I believe in making the world a better place, and that’s one tiny way I
can make it so. I’m one of those people who still believe in true love and soul
mates, and would rather keep my head in the clouds any day over having my feet
firmly on the ground.

My Thoughts:
I loved Charlie. She was snarky, cynical, dependant, goal oriented, hard working, and that is just the tip of the iceburg where she's concerned! She is a reporter for the school's newspaper and as such is always looking for the next story.
Knox was actually a pretty great character as well. He was his own worst enemy with all of his self hate. I understand why he disliked himself but when it was all said and done. I felt compassion for him and I couldn't help but like him. Knox has a bad reputation in more ways than one. He is always seen at the parties getting panties from the girls and glares from their guys.
At one party, Knox rescues Charlie and sort of becomes her protector.
These two characters were awesome together. :-)
I LOVED all of the banter and snark the characters flung around!
I don't want to give too much away, but let me just say that people are not always what they seem to be, sometimes justice is received, and everyone needs someone sometimes!
There were also some heavy topics and scenes. There were date rape drugs being used, rape, college binge drinking, and some fighting. All of these things were written in a tastefull way that kept it real but not overbearing! This book was NOT all doom and gloom. Though some of these topics are a bit heavy, Nicole

Williams did an amazing job of keeping the
pace moving along and the plot from getting too heavy.
There was snark and sass, college students doing plenty of partying, some angst, mystery, and danger, romance, stories being scoped, panties being collected, plotting and scheming and guys both good and bad.
I was engrossed in the story from the beginning and I stayed hooked till the last word

ReplyDeleteI try! :-) I've heard some reviews that really didn't like her. I can't understand how anyone could not like her but then again to each their own.
DeleteYep. But we've generally liked stuff that the other has so I trust you. ;)
Deleteoki you had me fearful a moment but since it's written tastefully and not just dark for dark i will add it to the list
ReplyDeleteThe dark material is not written in a menacing way at all. You'll be more than fine reading it. I had no issues. :-)
DeleteThanks for the excerpt and review
