Help! I think I'm in a reading slump!

I have been starting and stopping a lot of books lately. :-( It is not that the books are bad, they are just not what I want to read at the moment.

I'm in the mood for a new werewolf romance (emphasis on romance) or a book much like Bared to you or Fifty. The problem is everything I've read lately (that wasn't for review) is not what I want!

I hate to think that I could ever get burnt out on books!

Suggestions? Solutions?

Don't forget to enter the Comment Incentive Giveaway. It is a great chance to win a book you'd like to have! The link can be found at the top of the page.

Happy New Year, Brenda! =D I'm sorry to hear that you're in the middle of a reading slump, but it happens to all of us eventually. =/

I'm afraid that I don't have any suggestions. When I lose the urge to read, I try to change things up a little for myself by planning TV marathons or even listening to Old Time Radio plays; but this is just what works for me and isn't necessarily the best solution for everyone.

Something else I do is remind myself that when one area of my life slows down, another speeds up. I find that my reading slumps are often accompanied by a more active social life or the accomplishing of more creative projects. I'm sure that if you look around, you'll see similar fruits elsewhere in your life! =)

    1. I have been feeling out of sorts lately. Maybe it is now rubbing off on my reading?

I know what you mean though and I'll have to try to keep myself busy until it goes away. Thanks!

  2. I know how you feel -- this has happened to me before. I'm not sure what advice to give except to keep trying new books and one of them will be what you want and will get you in the mood again! Have you read Devoured by Emily Snow? I loved it much more than 50 Shades. Although we have been waiting on the sequel for more than a year.

I would also recommend the Love Me With Lies series by Tarryn Fisher since it is my absolute favorite!!

I am giving away any of my 2013 favorites here! Please enter!

  3. it happens to everyone of us and it's often by surprise that we find the book that cure us of it^^ since you are mostly my source of suggestion it's not easy to recommend something you haven't read already or planning too....

let see a werewolves romance that i remember well and a free one is bonded ( prequel) and The mating by Nicki Charles

i gave you the link to my reviews if you wanted to see if it was what you are looking for.
now if you want some humour and shifter not werewolf you still have the kate daniels series by ilona andrews you can try the series gets better with each book as teh relation between kate and curran blossoms

now the book that helped me in the past is one you have read already moon called by patricia briggs but if you want a sweet romance no steamy at all in a world with magic with some sad moment ( worse than that) but humour and sweet teaching The Hob Bargain by patrica briggs has a special place in my heart but it's fantasy no paranormal romace ( but love is present yes humour sometimes to balance the sad part and happy end^^)

  4. Sorry to hear that you are in a reading slump! It does happen and I am sure you will get out of it. Sometimes for me I can get out of it by reading something totally different from what I normally read (like a reset button). It looks like people have given you a lot of great recommendations. If you are looking for something different The Glass Castle is a memoir that was fascinating, Pillar of the Earth is one of the best HF books I have ever read- it looks long, but it is super fast. Colors like Memories and Chemistry of Fate are both books about Sary (sort of like angels) and are really good.

Best of luck getting out of your slump. Happy 2014!

  5. Happy 2014! It's so terrible to hear that you're in a slump. I get that too sometimes. Usually instead of searching for another book to read and risk placing even higher expectations on a book, I do something else. Watch a marathon TV series or play online games or something other than reading. I know, crazy right. How could a book lover stop reading. But I do, sometimes.

I'm also sorry I'm not much help in this topic. I think the only werewolf book I've ever read was the Twilight saga. I JUST finished Bared to You so that's a no-go since you've already read it.

Do try and concentrate on something else for a couple of days. Let the mind refresh itself and start anew. It is a new year after all!

  6. I know I have so many books downloaded and I just don't know where to start or what to read so the other night I took off from reading and watched NCIS and Bones. The Mating series is good and I also love the Stormy Weather series and also the J S Scott Changeling encounters series I have only been following you a bit over a month so not sure what you have read but I hope you enjoy

  7. Sorry to hear that you are in a reading slump. My suggestions for werewolf books are The Wolf Gift and The Wolves of Midwinter by Anne Rice. If you are looking for something different, I highly recommend A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness.

  8. I'm in the same slump unfortunately. :( So I don't know at the moment. But I will definitely let you know if I find something of interest. My aunt was telling me about this series she said was really funny but after a few books its kind of the same thing over and over. Heres the link to the book bundle. There the Furry United Coalition by Eve Langlais-
