VBT: Review, Giveaway and Interview with Lynda Aicher author of Bonds of Need

I was able to interview Lynda! Here's what she had to share:

I really really really liked Bonds of Trust. I have to ask, do you get the ideas for your books from personal experience, do you research it, or do you just have an awesome imagination?

First, thank you. I’m glad you enjoyed the book. Now, inquiring minds what to know, right? *grin* Honestly, it’s all research and imagination. Sorry to disappoint, but I do spend a lot of time trying to get into the heads of my characters and really dig through their emotions as they experience the different parts of the BDSM lifestyle. That, more than anything, is what the Wicked Play series is about.

What are you working on and when can we expect it to be out?

I’m currently working through edits on book #4 in the series, Bonds of Hope. It’ll be out in September. And I’m scrambling to finish a novella for the Carina Press Christmas callout deadline in six days. Bonds of Desire, book #3 in Wicked Play series, is already finished and will be out in July. :D Yay! I only have to wait until July!!!!

In what scenario do you do your best work?

I can work pretty much anywhere as long as I have my earbuds and music. Best scenario is in my office with an empty house. But, there are times when being under a time pressure, like having to take my kids somewhere, to get my words done for the day is also a great motivator.

What book should under No circumstances ever be made into a movie?

Ack! I have no idea. I’m not a big fan of movies made from books because the almost never do the book justice. Of course, if a production company wanted to make my books into a movie, I probably wouldn’t object. *wink* lol!

Beef, chicken, pork, or vegetarian?

Beef.

What is your favorite season? favorite holiday?

Season is fall because I love the smell in the air and the crispness that comes in that lets you pull out your cozy sweaters and turtlenecks. Holiday is Christmas for the family closeness it brings and the overall atmosphere, not the crazy gift buying. Those are my favorites as well. :-)

Do you have pets? If so what kind?

We have two cats. One older, cranky one that stays in our bedroom and a younger one that wandered into our lives last summer and loves to torment the old, cranky one.

What types of books do you like to read?

I’ve been in a big M/M hook for almost two years now. But, I’ve read through all of the romance genres at some point in my life. I’m liking M/M right now because it’s something different and unique on the romance spin.

Are you more likely to wear a skirt or pants?

Pants all the way. I only wear skirts when I absolutely have to. lol! Me too.

How do you prefer to communicate (in person, texting, email, or phone)?

Texting or email definitely.

Pierced or not?

Ears only.

Favorite beverage?

Coke or milk. It depends on if I need the caffeine. I would have thought you liked coffee because they seem to be fans of it in your books.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions. :-)

Thank you for having me. This was fun. :D

BLURB:

When Kendra Morgan attends a party at an exclusive sex club, she's not driven by mere curiosity. Hoping to prove she's put the past behind her, Kendra must instead face up to needs she's denied for too long. Despite her lingering fears, she can't resist the temptation to play…

Deklan Winters has had his eye on his attractive neighbor for months, but only senses Kendra is no stranger to the BDSM scene when she walks into his club. And he can tell that's not her only secret. What surprises him is his own overwhelming desire to give her what she craves—and to show her a side to the Dom/sub relationship she's never known.

With Deklan's guidance, Kendra begins to accept her forbidden needs and to recognize the fine line between pleasure and pain. But when her former Master returns to reclaim her, it will take all her courage—and all of Deklan's love—to defy her past.

Here is an excerpt for you:

Deklan was drawn back to the cause of their quarrel. Kendra Morgan. Jake was leading the women through the crowd to a reserved table located in an alcove under the balcony. Kendra brought up the rear, her hips swaying with each step, her head held straight ahead with her eyes downcast. She’d dropped her resting pose to let her arms move naturally at her side, but her shoulders were back, her hands loose in a posture defining obedience.

Christ. Jake looked like he was leading a small harem to his private lair. The parting sea of people seemed to recognize the same thing, making the procession even more noticeable and drawing the attention of half the room. Deklan’s jaw tensed as he caught more than one Dom assessing the women with clear appreciation. Their eyes traveling over the three the same way he’d done earlier. The way they all paused and held on Kendra, a few leaning together, heads nodding in indication, left no question that they were drawing the same conclusion as Seth. The lady in blue was a very experienced sub who knew exactly what she was doing in this world. It smacked of trouble for reasons he couldn’t define but had learned long ago to trust.

She projected a smooth image of confidence. But he caught the quick fist of her hand, the slight shift of her chin as her gaze shot to the side before jerking back to the ground. The facade of assurance was underscored by little signals of doubt and nerves.

She jerked her head around to stare directly at him, as if she’d known he was watching her. His breath stilled as he was consumed by the challenge he saw in her eyes, throwing away every submissive indication she’d been projecting just seconds before.

Kendra didn’t smile. No taunting curl of her lips in flirtation or request. It was like she was daring him to stop her.

Or claim her.

Lynda Aicher has always loved to read. It’s a simple fact that has been true since she discovered the words of Judy Blume at the age of ten. After years of weekly travel as a consultant implementing computer software into global companies, she ended her nomadic lifestyle to raise her two children. Now, her imagination is her only limitation on where she can go and her writing lets her escape from the daily duties of being a mom, wife, chauffeur, scheduler, cook, teacher, volunteer, cleaner and mediator. If writing wasn’t a priority, it wouldn’t get done.

My Thoughts:

This book is meant for adult eyes only! It is very hot and erotic. It deals with BDSM issues. It also deals with a woman who was abused.

Bonds of Need is the second book in this series. There is no need to read the first book before reading this one but I would recommend that you do. Bonds of Trust (book one) sets up the series and the characters are all introduced. :-) Not to mention that it was a great read.

Kendra and Deklan are the prominent characters in this book. Kendra was abused in the past. She wants to get back in the scene and after visiting The Den, a BDSM club owned by Deklan, Jake, and Seth, she thinks she is ready. She starts the scene with a random Dom but ends it with Deklan. Deklan can see that she needs help with trust and sets out to help her.

I really LOVE Deklan's character. He is so caring and gentle. I like all of the characters so far except for Eric.

The plot has a BDSM club, elements and scenes depicting BDSM especially S and M. an abusive ex, a scared woman with trust issues and a penchant for pain, a man with a savior complex, coffee, a good cast of characters, romance and lots of hot steamy scenes.

In the first book there was more of the bondage and domination elements. In Bonds of Need we see more of the sadism and masochism elements. I am not even going to pretend to understand Kendra's desire for pain because that is so not me!  I do think that it was well written and even though I don't agree with or understand the desire to have pain inflicted, I still really liked the story. The characters have a lot of personality and depth.

I recommend this book and series to you if BDSM type books tickle your fancy. I really liked both books in this series and I am looking forward to reading Bonds of Desire when it comes out in July!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. I honestly thought it was a great book. I really like this book and the first one as well!

Have you ever went or would you ever go to a BDSM club?

    now about your question:
I don't think so... just the mere idea of that kind of club put me ill at ease... i'm not even ready to read those books i think.

i would need to start slowly and with a ligther level book ( after all i'm still quite new to erotica too so one step at the time)

    1. You made their day. They were surprised that someone on here would send them Bday wishes. Thank you!

I wouldn't be caught anywhere near one either. lol! I like to read about it but would never be into it myself.

As far as these books go, I'm sure there are books that are much more intense. In my opinion, the characters were more of the focus then the BDSM stuff was. But I know what you mean about taking it slow. My first brush with BDSM was Fifty Shades of Grey. I really liked that series.

  8. I don't really want to have anything to do with a sex club, but this book does sound interesting. When I read a good book, I love that it is a series. I hate to finish the story.

I'm not into sex clubs, either! And I'd also find it hard to relate to a romantic heroine who likes being physically hurt. =(

  12. Nope cant say that I have. I've only read about them. I dont think I could go to one. I'm way to shy and sex is personal to me. I would want to share it with others. But I dont mind reading about it. So I can live vicariosly through them. :)

  13. Your book sounds wonderful. Adding it to my TBR, which is long, so I may just go download it after I leave this comment. Regarding your question, no I haven't. Would I? If a 'Christian Grey' was there. :) Thanks for the excerpt and the great giveaway!

  16. No, I've never been and I don't think I would ever go to a BDSM club. I find that I like to read some of the stories (I don't enjoy all, but some), but know that the life isn't for me.
