VBT: Review, Giveaway & Guest post by June Kramin author of "Double Mocha, Heavy on Your Phone Number"

June Kramin is Guest posting today! Thank you June! :-)

Thanks for joining the barrage & for the guest spot!

Coming up with all these posts isn’t easy after taking a break from blogging. The name of your blog lent a helping hand! It’s play on words like that - that I love.

People think when you’re a writer, that you are a great speller and use perfect grammar – always. I may know a few “grammar Nazis” but our writing forum has pretty much killed that off (for everyday use anyway). It’s very hard posting on facebook and having to explain to “normal” people that you spelled seriously – srsly on purpose. Or “teh ossum” is the new “awesome”! Even one of my publisher’s names, Writer’s AMuse Me, people think I’ve made a caps mistake on their name. Er.. no. Srsly. That’s how it is. We’re writers – we’re weird. Rant about someone using “you’re” when it should be “your” and we’ll reply with, “There, their, they’re - it’s ok.”

Writers will openly ask, “If you were to stab a guy, what kind of knife would you use?” and expect people to not look at us funny. You will over hear a writer say things like, “When I fell it hurt so bad! But it was good ‘cause now I can describe it in my story with better detail.” My personal favorite is me shouting at my laptop, “I told you not to sleep with him! Would you listen to me? Nooooo.”

You gotta love us though, right? We bring you stories like Double Mocha, Heavy on Your Phone Number with all its twists and turns. Even I sorta flipped out when I discovered Ellie had a twin. What? Sometimes we’re the last to know as well!

If I haven’t scared you away, hope you enjoy the book!

Happy Reading!

June

Blurb:

Unable to make it home in a snowstorm, Ellie seeks shelter at an old farmhouse. When the owner’s grandson shows up and happens to be the man she had given the brush off to twice, it takes all they have not to kill each other during the snowed-in days that follow.

The last thing Ellie plans on is the relationship outlasting the storm. Bix’s persistence at a relationship and attempts to help her at her job with his computer skills proves to be more than Ellie can continue to push away. She finds herself where she never wanted to be after losing her fiancé a year ago. In love again.

When Ellie’s twin sister shows up and puts all their lives at risk, they must now weather a different kind of storm together.

Excerpt:

Bix was surprised to see Ellie standing in the kitchen when he walked in her house the following Monday. He was hoping to surprise her when she got home from work. She must have left a little early.

“You’re home?” He walked over admiring her hair then gave her a kiss as he ran his fingers through her hair. “What made you go dark?”

“I just felt like a change. You like it?”

“I do.” He kissed her again and weaved his fingers through her hair and to the back of her head.

She wrapped her arms around his neck and began kissing him hard. Getting more aggressive in her kisses, she began pushing him backwards until he was against the wall.

“What got into you, babe?”

“I just missed you.” She kissed his neck then pulled at his shirt, sending buttons flying. Her hands stroked his chest and went down to his belt buckle.

He closed his eyes and leaned his head against the wall as she kissed down his chest. She slid his jeans down, but left his boxers on. Kissing her way back up his chest, she placed her hand at his crotch. He was already getting aroused. “Nice,” she said, giving him a squeeze. Kissing him harder, she began rubbing her hips against him.

“Let’s get down to business, stud.”

His eyes sprang open and he held her by the shoulders, then looked into her eyes. They were the same shade of blue. The same deep blue outline. He looked from one to the other, then saw it. A green fleck that was never there before.

“You’re not Ellie.”

“Dammit.” Her hand still stroked his chest. “You’re quicker than Tony was.”

He pushed her back and quickly pulled his jeans up. “Ellie never mentioned being a twin.”

“It’s no wonder. I’d want to keep you to myself, too.” Again she leaned into him and tried to place her hand on his crotch. He grabbed her hand before she was successful.

“Stop it.”

“Come on. What are you? A choir boy?”

He moved away from the wall so she would stop cornering him. “I don’t know what your game is but—” The sound of a car door closing stopped him.

“Dammit. The party pooper is home. We’ll have to finish later.” She looked to Bix again and ran her tongue over her lips.

Bix tried pulling his shirt together the best he could, but it was a useless attempt with his buttons scattered across the floor.

My Thoughts:

I liked this book a great deal. It was charming and intriguing.

The plot had fast paced vehicles, a coffee shop, a woman with a doppelganger, a very bad snow storm, a sweet old man, a computer geek, romance, a family with lots of drama, a duke, a psycho, and lots of exciting twists and turns.

The characters were great! Bix was both charming and annoying at first, then he grew on me and he was just charming and sweet. I liked Ellie too. I felt bad for all the burdens she carried around with her. I was glad to watch her and Bix grow closer together. I loved Gramps. :-) He reminded me of my grandpa.

I recommend this book to everyone looking for a sweet and slightly steamy romance with a wonderful cast of characters.

I received a copy of this book from CBLS in exchange for an honest opinion. I honestly thought it was great.

I hope June plans to write more books with this cast. I'd love see them all find love.

  6. No, don't like coffee. My addiction is Chai Tea Lattes from Panara ;)

So, I now need to know what happens next and what is that twin up to!?! Once again I go out to add this books to my TBR ;) Brenda, your blog is doing a number on my TBR. I think it's already increased by 50 books from the reviews you've done and the authors you have introduced to us. Thanks! <3

    1. I love chai tea! I haven't tried the lattes though.

It's great that you've found many of the books to your liking. :-)

I get overwhelmed at times by the number of books on my TBR and wishlists. My reading addiction at time seems more like a sickness. No matter how many books I've read or how many I have on the shelves waiting to be read, I keep adding more. I always need more! The worst part is I doubt I will ever catch up and my list will never end. If I think about it too much, I feel anxious. :-(

    2. Yes, I can relate ;) Mine is up to 682 on goodreads! That doesn't include all of the ones waiting on my Nook and Kindle apps. Or the ones on my bookshelves that I haven't read yet. My book club girls and I joke around that we're addicted and that we are a bookaholics group :) I just went to the book store this weekend and brought home two bags of books *sigh* Yes, it is never ending, but so enjoyable!

I'm more of a tea drinker than a coffee drinker. =)

Based on that excerpt, Nancy is a real piece of work! I want to read the book more to learn about Ellie's relationship with her than to learn about Ellie's relationship with Bix!

    1. I'd take tea over coffee any day. I like to smell coffee but that is the extent of it.

Tea is great especially iced tea! :-)

Nancy is one of those characters (for most of the book) that we love to hate.

Don't count out the interesting bits of Ellie and Bix's relationship.

There is a lot to like about this book.:-)

We have something in common! I love the smell of coffee (especially in the morning), but somehow, the taste of it never lives up to the aroma.

Oh, I'd also be interested to read more about Ellie and Bix. =) I even entered the contest (which I rarely do for blog tours) because I'm so intrigued!

  8. The excerpt is great! I want to read this one!
I like coffee with a ton of chocolate caramel creamer (because I am not a huge fan of the plain coffee flavor). My friends and hubby say that I make my coffee up to taste like hot chocolate, lol.
