This is the second book in the Moonlight series.
Things get more complicated for Cee Cee when she’s appointed lead investigator in a high-profile murder that points to her preternatural lover. To prove him innocent, she must distance herself from her prime suspect, but tangled emotions don’t make it easy for her to stay away. And neither does Max.
Left in charge of a criminal empire and protector of a clan of shadowy shape-shifters, Max walks a precarious line. Can he believe the cunning stranger who claims he can teach Max the things he needs to know to stay alive—a conman who would betray anyone to make a profit—a man who may be a ruthless killer?
Pulled between her desire for justice and the man she loves, the harder Cee Cee fights to clear Max’s name, the more he pushes her away. He’s protecting a dark truth that could blow the top off her case. And that means hiding his motives and lying to a woman who values truth above all. The woman who can save him . . . if he’ll let her

PROVOCATIVE, EXPLICIT, EDGY & SO MUCH FUN!
All Casey Reynolds wanted was peace and quiet and a long vacation from covering the crime beat in Boston. That's why she agreed to borrowing a villa in Mexico to rest, be alone and work on her novel.
But then he showed up -- Travis Craig. He said he was offered the villa to recover from a serious illness. He had just lost his teaching job and had no money to leave.
She agreed with his plan to share the house -- but on her terms. Soon rest and relaxation were a thing of the past when their double occupancy proved too erotic to control.

For fiery redhead Susanna Chalmers, Dylan Sinclair was the handsome muscle-bound guy in high school she could never have. i haven't read any of these but i'm tem^pted by the nancy gedon series
ReplyDeleteI haven't read or heard of any of these before, but Hidden sounds very interesting! I love books with multiple timelines that somehow intersect :) Adding it to my TBR. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteMy StS
That is usually not my thing and that is what has me holding back from reading it.

ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of these, Brenda, but I did read their plot summaries in this post. ;-)
I'm a little surprised by the premise of Chased by Moonlight. If an investigator's lover were a suspect in a crime, wouldn't the investigator be excused from handling the case? =S
I agree... my understanding is that you can't be an investigator on any case that involves your family or friends. Too many chances to tamper with evidence and the like.
DeleteI know what you mean. I guess it can happen in the book because it's make believe?
Delete+JMJ+
DeleteHmmmm. I'm not sure how I feel about that, either! =/ On the one hand, I do think an author has the right to set the rules of his imaginary world. On the other hand, if it doesn't seem plausible to me, I have trouble suspending disbelief for the rest of the story.
the question is did her superior knew she had a relation to the suspect... if it was secret then she would have to ask to be relieved from teh case and perhaops she doesn't want too and thus keep quiet
Delete( after all yes it's forbidden but even if real they had some who played with teh rules by keeping quiet etc so as long as she is doing her job well)
+JMJ+
DeleteIn that case, I think that just by keeping quiet about it, she's already doing her job badly. =S It would make an interesting character flaw, though.
The only book that I've heard of is the Nancy Gideon book. It's on my bookshelf actually. I haven't read it yet. I had planned on getting the first in the series-- I hate to read out of order-- but keep forgetting it when I'm at the bookstore. Of course, I always put off buying some books because I have so many others to read as well ;)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean Josette!
Deletei too prefer read in order and that's not easy because the bookstore here doesn't have a lot of book so i must find a way to get it online etc... ( wjhen it's still available because sometimes it isn't and i'm blocked for an indefinite time)
Deleteat least i recently got the book 1 i needed for a series ( yes.. oki not teh same edition but i will have to take the new edition of book2 later that 's it)
I like to read them in order too. It annoys me when I go to purchase books and I can't find the series order. I think that it should be the first thing mentioned. I mean why get me interested in book three without telling me that there are two books ahead of it in the series?
DeleteNo, I haven't read any of these before, though a few sound good.
