ReplyDeleteWhat a great, but difficult to answer, question. I think it is a combination of all of it. You want them be larger than life and full of danger, sexy and good looking; but I think the biggest reasons I love a bad boy is because I like discovering their golden heart and watching them be tamed by their soul mate ;)
I think bad boys appeal because they are dangerous and we like a danger in our life. They bring excitement.
ReplyDeletedebby236 at gmail dot com
I agree that they are exciting. ;-)

ReplyDeleteI'm likely going to be the odd one out--and in this context, probably even the party pooper =P--but I vastly prefer the Good Boys. =)
I haven't thought about book boyfriends in a while, but I remember that one of my earliest crushes was Peter Pevensie from C.S. Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia. (How is that for "good"? LOL!) I think the closest I ever got to fancying a Bad Boy was when I developed another literary crush on Gilbert Blythe from L.M. Montgomery's Anne books!
I am speechless!
DeleteAs far as good boys go, I like them too. I married one. :-)
I think I enjoy bad boys in books because that is way out of character for me. It adds to the adventure and the fantasy.
I love their confidence, it's rassuring in a sense^^;; they can have strange bad look but still have a good heart and i can't resit that^( the bdb are a great example yes^^)
ReplyDeleteBones from the night huntress series is a good example or daemon from teh lux series by jennifer l armentrout^^
The BDB are an excellent example. My favorite is Zsadist, the baddest of the bad, also in my opinion, the sweetest.
DeleteDefinitely agree on this one! Love Zsadist, V, and can forget Rev! *sigh*
DeleteHere's my example, Jill Myles Succubus Diaries, the vampire Zane vs the angel Noah, I always preferred Zane ;)
Whenever there is a love triangle, I always seem to go for the bad boy over the good.
I think bad boys appeal because they are dangerous and we like a danger in our life. They bring excitement.

I like the good guys, I must admit. Book crushes include Griff from Damon Suede's HOT HEAD, Blaze from Lori Toland's Replacement Guitarist series, Admael from Clare London's SAY A LITTLE PRAYER, and Roan, Jake, and Tommy from Tara Lain's Genetic Attraction series.

I definitely think that its their confidence and sheer cockiness which makes the bad boys so irressitible. It is SO difficult to pick one book boyfriend but Travis is the total heart breaker bad boy!

Ooh, definitely agree with Tia about Eric...perfect swoony bad boy!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Book Boyfriend is Acheron. I think it's the whole alpha persona in bad boys that makes us swoon.
ReplyDeleteI think we're attracted to bad boys because there's a hint of danger and they are the ultimate alpha male. For me, in addition to that alpha male OMG thing, it's because if you're in a relationship with a bad boy, you have a little secret between the two of you--he may be all bad boy on the outside, but there's a soft heart on the inside and he's allowed you to see it.
ReplyDeleteI also forgot to mention that I absolutely love The Order of the Black Swan series. If you haven't read Victoria's books, you're in for a treat. You don't get just one bad boy -- you get four !

From the above mentioned I still like Christian Grey :D also Ian Samerhalder as Damian and Alex Skarsgard as Eric are yummy :D
ReplyDeletethanks!

I absolutely adore bad boys in my romance books! Luckily I am married so my days of actually dating the bad boy types is over, those boys can break your heart way to easily (as well as make you feel a bit psycho). I think the allure of the bad boy has everything to do with the rough edges, confidence and the unattainable factor. It's so tempting, exhilarating and yet a bit scary!
ReplyDeleteRamsey from Avoiding series :)
ReplyDeleteOh and my favourite paranormal entity would have to vampires
DeleteMy book boyfriend is Jeb from Splintered. :)
ReplyDeleteMy book boyfriend is Travis Maddox from Beautiful Disaster! :) I love how bad boys are so sexy and confident, yet they have a good and redeemable heart!
ReplyDeleteLacey T

Thanks for the giveaway! I've never experienced my heart being on fire by a person but I have read good books that have done it! A good romantic novel is "Outlander" by Diane Gabaldon. Jamie is heroic and handsome and Claire is intelligent and beautiful. Their romance is EPIC and is composed of a true emotional connection between characters!
ReplyDeleteHappy V-Day!!
I do like the recklessness of bad boys!
mestith at gmail dot com
My favorite is Lucas from Easy by Tammara Webber.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite bad boys is Jude Ryder from Nicole Williams' Crash series. For me, the swoon happens when we realize they're not really bad boys on the inside.
ReplyDeletedeedee [at] grifmail [dot] com
I think we all love bad boys because they resist love so much, yet fall so hard and they are so protective of the ones they love.
ReplyDeleteI love bad boys. Not sure what it is about them that makes us swoon.
ReplyDeleteWe love bad boys because we secretly want to be the one to tame the untameable. My favorite heartbreaker would have to be Barrons from the Fever series.
ReplyDeleteMy book boyfriend is Eric Northman and he is the ultimate bad boy to me! Who doesn't love a dominate, alpha male, gorgeous Adonis of a Viking Vampire?!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the hop!

ReplyDeleteThanks for the awesome giveaway!
My Favorite Book Boyfriend is Adrian Ivashkov!
ReplyDeleteI have a ton of book boy friends. Actually, I've started my own harem and try not to play favoritism;
ReplyDeleteWraith from Demonica
Tegan and Dante from Midnight Breed
Cameron MacKenzie from Highland Pleasures series
Jag from Feral Warriors
..and that's just for starters.
We love bad boys because they are fierce, lethal, arrogant, don't believe in love and/or don't think they deserve it, passionate, sexy as get out, and when they fall it's cataclysmic.
I love Valerius from Seize the Night and Wrath from Dark Lover.
ReplyDeletesstrode at scrtc dot com
What makes me swoon about bad boys is definitely their attitude. They live on the edge, they are passionate and fierce, among other things. :)
ReplyDeleteI have so many that I have fallen in love with.
Thank you for the wonderful giveaway.
