Moving in with a guy you only met once? Stupid.
But for student Layla Crawford, this was reality.
Chase Jackson is a renowned playboy and self professed commitment phobe, that is until he meets Layla.
Blinded by his intensity to have her, Chase will stop at nothing to make her his.
With a jealous ex and old conquests repeatedly making appearances, Chase' s skeletons come out of the closet one by one, each one pushing Layla further and further away.

My Thoughts:
Someone added this book to their shelf on Goodreads and I had to check it out. I wanted to order it but it was only available in Kindle format despite all of the other books in the series being available in paperback. :-( I contacted the author because (as you know) I'd prefer to buy all of the books in paperback if possible, especially because they are so affordable. Anyway, the author said that Chase is being reformatted and will be available in paperback again! Yay! :D :D :D Then she asked if I'd like her to send me a file to read until it is available. Uh yes please! She sent it to me minutes later and didn't even ask me to review it for her (which I will anyway) but she was so very nice!
Now, let me tell you that Chase is book one in the Resisting Love series. ;-) I would only suggest this book to adults as it has plenty of sizzling scenes. This should be on your What to read after Fifty list!
I really liked the characters, especially Cade and James. Their protective nature and the way they teased Layla mercilessly was awesome. I loved it.
I was surprised when I found out who Chase was but I should've seen it coming. lol!
This book had some of everything that I love in romances. Well not everything, there were no supes, but this is not a paranormal so you get the point. :P There was some drama, humor, romance, hot and steamy scenes, a couple of Alpha males one of which was the hero, and a tad bit of suspense. There was even a wicked witch complete with broom! Ahhahaha! Well okay she didn't actually have a broom and she may not have technically been a witch but she was anything but nice! I really didn't like her and I'd have liked to see her fall off of a broom from a very high height or meet an even nastier end.
I loved this book. I just know that I'll love the rest of the books too! I am eagerly awaiting the chance to purchase all of the books to put on my shelf (after I've read the rest of them of course).
I really don't want to ruin any of the surprises by saying too much. Just know that this book is mmmm, mmmm, Good!
As I've already said, I received a copy of this book from the author. These are my honest, uncompensated for thoughts about CHASE. I strongly recommend reading it because I thought it was pretty darn awesome. :-)

Damn, you've sold me. I was already falling in love with the cover but this book seems like something I'd like. I love it when a book drops a bombshell i didn't see coming. Thanks for the great review!

ReplyDeleteI have a weak spot for kind authors too. :-)
DeleteEven though it sounds like a mix between Fallen Too Far and Beautiful Disaster, I will definitely give it a chance.
ReplyDeleteIt's the first time I hear of it, but it sounds really good, thank you for sharing your thoughts!
I was totally thinking that it was kind of like Beautiful Disaster too! :)
DeleteI wouldn't compare it because he's not in school. It has a different vibe to it but it really is good in it's own way. :-)
DeleteOk cool. :) I think it was more the living together thing and him being a player. But different. :)
