New Releases to look for today!

Dark Companion

Here's the blurb from Goodreads:

Orphaned at the age of six, Jane Williams has grown up in a series of foster homes, learning to survive in the shadows of life. Through hard work and determination, she manages to win a scholarship to the exclusive Birch Grove Academy. There, for the first time, Jane finds herself accepted by a group of friends. She even starts tutoring the headmistress’s gorgeous son, Lucien. Things seem too good to be true.

They are.

The more she learns about Birch Grove’s recent past, the more Jane comes to suspect that there is something sinister going on. Why did the wife of a popular teacher kill herself? What happened to the former scholarship student, whose place Jane took? Why does Lucien’s brother, Jack, seem to dislike her so much?

As Jane begins to piece together the answers to the puzzle, she must find out why she was brought to Birch Grove—and what she would risk to stay there….

Team Human

Here's the blurb from Goodreads:

Just because Mel lives in New Whitby, a city founded by vampires, doesn't mean she knows any of the blood-drinking undead personally. They stay in their part of town; she stays in hers. Until the day a vampire shows up at her high school. Worse yet, her best friend, Cathy, seems to be falling in love with him. It's up to Mel to save Cathy from a mistake she might regret for all eternity

On top of trying to help Cathy (whether she wants it or not), Mel is investigating a mysterious disappearance for another friend and discovering the attractions of a certain vampire wannabe. Combine all this with a cranky vampire cop, a number of unlikely romantic entanglements, and the occasional zombie, and soon Mel is hip-deep in an adventure that is equal parts hilarious and touching.

Acclaimed authors Justine Larbalestier and Sarah Rees Brennan team up to create a witty and poignant story of cool vampires, warm friendships, and the changes that test the bonds of love.

God Save the Queen (The Immortal Empire, #1)

From Goodreads:

Queen Victoria rules with an immortal fist.

The undead matriarch of a Britain where the Aristocracy is made up of werewolves and vampires, where goblins live underground and mothers know better than to let their children out after dark. A world where being nobility means being infected with the Plague (side-effects include undeath), Hysteria is the popular affliction of the day, and leeches are considered a delicacy. And a world where technology lives side by side with magic. The year is 2012 and Pax Britannia still reigns.

Xandra Vardan is a member of the elite Royal Guard, and it is her duty to protect the Aristocracy. But when her sister goes missing, Xandra will set out on a path that undermines everything she believed in and uncover a conspiracy that threatens to topple the empire. And she is the key-the prize in a very dangerous struggle.

Liquid Lies (The Elementals, #1)

Here's the blurb from Goodreads:

Magic is corporate America’s best-kept secret, and Gwen Carroway is superior at selling it ...

Gwen possesses the unique ability to pick up any language in an instant—a power that will globally expand the profitable family business. As dutiful future leader of her race of water elementals, she'll do anything to protect her people's secrets and bloodlines—including enter an arranged marriage. Inside, however, she yearns for forbidden human men.

Reed is a mercenary addicted to the money and adrenaline rush of his work. After he inadvertently saves Gwen's life, he ignites her taboo desire for men without magic—and with bodies of gods. Just as things heat up, Reed discovers that Gwen is exactly who he’s been hired to kidnap. He resolves to put work before lust, yet her luscious beauty and fiery spirit unravel him…

But there is a terrible truth behind Gwen’s family business—and now, caught between the kinsmen she no longer trusts and an enemy bent on vengeance, the only ally she has is her abductor…

This series is about Abby Cooper, a psychic that always finds herself caught up in mysteries and mayhem. This series has some of everything, mystery, comedy, and even a little romance.

This is the 10th book in the psychic eye mystery series!  If you haven't tried this series, I would suggest that you do. You should start with book one - Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye .

I especially like the covers for Dark Companion and God Save the Queen.

God Save the Queen seems a little different from my usual book choices but there is something about it.

I can't wait to read these books!!!!

What about you? Do these sound good to you or is there something else that you can't wait to get your hands on?

Review: Eternal by J.A. Belfield

I have to start by saying I love this cover!

Eternal (Holloway Pack, #0.5)

With Eternal, what you see is what you get. The beauty of the cover continues the whole way through the story!

This is a prequel to Darkness & Light. Instinct, another prequel, should be read before Eternl.

This book was refreshingly different. J.A. Belfield writes in a way that brings her characters' voices alive. I could hear their accents as I read the story. It has a historical feel to it but it wasn't hard for me to follow. Eternal managed to keep my interest unlike other historical type books!

This book starts with Jem and Sean mated but not married. Strange werewolves keep coming to the area to see if the rumors of a female werewolf are true. This puts strain on their relationship and prompts Sean to suggest marriage to keep her safe. No woman wants their marriage to be a duty for the man. Jem is no different. She gets angry and leaves. Sean, typical man that he is, can't figure out what he did that upset her.

I'm not going to tell you how it ends or what else happens. I'm going to say if  you want to read a wonderful werewolf story, this one fits the bill. The story will keep you interested the whole way through. It has some action and a sweet romance, but most importantly, it has werewolves!

I received a copy of this book from J Taylor Publishing in exchange for an honest review.

You can find out more about J.A. Belfield from her website , her blog or her Goodreads page
