Book Description:
Shea Harper is forced to stay in boring, hot and dry Phoenix, Arizona for college. But once she meets the enigmatic yet positively egocentric Lucian, Shea’s life changes forever.
She finds out that she comes from a long line of descendants called Vessels. In her soul is the key to destroying an ancient prison protecting the world from darkness itself: Lucian’s father.
Up until now, Lucian has captured every descendant except Shea. With her powers awakening, all vampires want to drag her down to the pit. But Lucian is territorial. She’s the first female Vessel… and he’s convinced she belongs to him.
Saucy and tauntingly surprising, Black Moon captures the struggle between burning alive with desire and castrating the heart. This is a love story that will drain you dry.

PROLOGUE
LUCIAN
The alcohol in her perfume was strong enough to burn my eyes. I sank my teeth in deeper as she moaned with pleasure. I was already full, but what was the point in leaving her alive? So that she could continue to wait tables at The Bargain’s Inn, married to Floyd the town’s drunk?
Not that he was of any use to her now.
I wasn’t Lucian the Merciful… not anymore. But it was more convenient to kill someone that was already dead inside. Her eyes rolled back and I languished on the last few drops as her body trembled then orgasmed.
Would her dismal life have given her this sweet of a death?
I let her body thud to the floor. I wiped my mouth and straightened my back, kicking an empty beer can at Floyd’s carcass. His severed head sat on top of the TV he’d been yelling at before he’d hit her.
My body surged, their blood filling my hollow cavities with warmth. I wasn’t supposed to stop in for a snack, but when I passed and saw what he was doing to her, I just couldn’t resist cutting him open.
Things like that weren’t men.
They were monsters… like I was.
I walked steadily out the door, their rocking chair creaked in the warm desert breeze as I gazed up at the quarter moon. Where was the Vessel hiding? It had been 500 years since the last one, and he should be of age by now. I shifted restlessly. Waiting was an agony I’d become all too familiar with.
Adnachiel was probably keeping the Vessel from activating his powers so that I couldn’t track him. As if that had stopped me before. Any mistake, any misstep, and I’d be at that dog’s doorstep ready to rip him apart.
This game of ours had gone on for too long. My eyes were dull with boredom. If only I could bring Adnachiel enough pain to satisfy my rage or to fill this growing emptiness I couldn’t shake even after a hefty feeding like tonight.
Maybe this time I’d end it and drag that Vessel, boy or man, to the depths of hell with me… to meet my father.

F.M. Sherrill:
Aren't author's bios boring? I always wanted to read one that went something like this:
F.M. Sherrill: recent citizen of earth. Plans on ruling the planet once she gets over the common cold. Or, F.M. Sherrill: time traveler. Decided to alter the space-time continuum by writing a novel, thus changing history slightly, which will eventually lead to the rise of a new human species.
But here it is. F.M. Sherrill is a novelist, A.K.A. an avid bullshitter; that's why she lives in L.A.. She's been writing for as long as her ancient mind can remember, devouring tales like an anemic vampire roaming the streets in hot pink heels, always thirsty for more. When she's not writing, she's making steampunk weapons, sewing giant plant-eater Mario plushes, making costumes for some film bloke or cosplayer, and sculpting/casting movie prop replicas while gardening in her urban apartment. Her favorite tools? A soldering iron, a blowtorch, a band saw, a sonic screwdriver, a replicator and an active imagination.

My Thoughts:
This book was exciting and a little creepy. It was a little slow at the beginning but picked up further into the book. It was unique in comparison with other books with vampires that I've read.
I've been reading many books lately with the name Lucien in them. LOL! That is the name of the leading man in this book as well. I had mixed feelings about him. In some parts I despised him and his actions but others I felt bad for him and even rooted for him.
I felt the same way about Aidan. I mostly liked Shea, the heroine, though.
Black Moon was suspenseful, action packed, and drama-rific, there was some romance, and vampires that are somewhat ruthless and barbaric.
It was a terrific change of pace from the usual vampire books that I read.
All I can say is give it a try if you like vamps and are looking for a breath of fresh air in those types of books.
I received an ecopy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. I thought the history aspect was really interesting and I will be waiting to see what happens next. Black Moon was thrilling, chilling in parts, and totally engaging. You'll be unable to walk away!
