Giveaway, Review and Guest Blog by Constance Phillips Author of Fairy Proof

My Redheaded Heroine

When I was writing Fairyproof, I had a pretty clear picture in my head of my heroine, Monique. She was a fairy, so human men had to be instantly attracted her. It wouldn’t be troubling that the hero Daniel didn’t instantly drool over her, if it wasn’t old hat for every other man to do so. Because I wanted to write her as unsure of her own abilities in the beginning, I needed her to be more than pretty, I wanted her to be drop-dead gorgeous.

In order to be able to use outer beauty as a crutch, it had to be over-the-top.

Of course part of her growth arc is to learn she’s strong on the inside and that there is more to her than that physical appeal, but that didn’t change who she was or how she looked. I truly believe in that told adage that says beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, but I fell back on some old staples: tall with lots of curves. Since a lot of fairy lore comes out of Ireland, I also chose flaming red hair and green eyes for Monique.

When filling out my cover-art form for the book, there was only one thing I was adamant about: Monique had long, red, curly hair. So when I got my first peak at the cover and saw what Taria Reed did with that direction, I was beyond thrilled. She’d taken that simple sentence and put a face to the woman I pictured in my mind.

But the real test of whether the woman I imagined was, in fact, the bombshell I’d wanted her to be came as I began to show the cover to all my friends (and any stranger I could get to stop and look), especially from the men. I had never in my life seen so many jaws hit the floor. Never before seen arousal flash so brightly in the eyes of these guys.

Thanks to wonderfully talented cover artist Taria Reed, it was mission accomplished.

About The Author:

Constance Phillips lives in Ohio with her husband, two ready-to-leave-the-nest children, and four canine kids. Her perfect fantasy vacation would involve hunting Dracula across Europe with her daughter, who also digs that kind of stuff. When she's not writing about fairies, shifters, vamps, and guardian angels, she's working side-by-side with her husband in their hardwood flooring business.

Constance is actively involved in her local Romance Writers of America chapter (MVRWA) and the Southeast Michigan chapter of the United States Pony Club. When not writing or enjoying the outdoors, she loves reality television or can be found at a Rick Springfield concert (just look for the pink Converse high tops).

My Thoughts:

Fairyproof was a charming story. It began slowly and I didn't really get intrigued until about a third of the way through the book. Once it picked up the pace, I was spell bound to finish reading it.

The plot had action, suspense, romance, and many twists to keep you on your toes.

I enjoyed reading it. I sincerely hope that this is the start to a series. I recommend this book to everyone who likes fairy books.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
