Review ~ Tempering Steel by Lea Barrymire

After months of aching to be with grumpy Sheriff Connor Manning, Margarete

Barrie finally gets her chance when a coyote shifter takes refuge in her home.

Connor’s resolve to stay away from Margie weakens when she takes in his packmate. Fighting his inner animal and jealousy makes him question his decision to leave women and love alone.

They’re thrown together to catch a trapper or hunter threatening the pack. Even the possible danger doesn’t cool the tension between them.

Tempering Steel

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Lea spends her time writing, reading and working. She is both a stay at home mom and a "work from home" professional. Her knight in shining armor is not only her husband but also her best friend. Her heathen children are the entertainment that keeps her going. The stories that tumble from her fingers are definitely a combination of her fascination with science and the emotional aspect of romantic encounters.

Lea lives in Western New York with her hubby, three children, and miscellaneous critters. Before the rugrats, she lived a life of adventure, following her husband all over Europe with the US military. She’s slept in a car outside Paris, drove six hours just to see tulips in the Netherlands, and knocked ash from her shoes at Pompeii. Now she spends her time in life’s adventures at soccer games, PTA meetings and school plays.

Lea has loved reading from a very young age, spending many sleepless nights devouring books. Science fiction and paranormal were her favorite genres to read as a teenager, and that love bled into her adult life. She started writing during a bout of insomnia, to fill time, and found it filled a creative void. Now she communes regularly with the characters in her head and tries not to laugh out loud when they say something funny.

When Lea isn’t reading, writing or corralling kids, she enjoys watching movies and sciencey shows, or just kicking back and listening to some music.

Cammie has had one hell of a night. Her long-time abusive boyfriend pushed her to the limits and then a freaking wolf hit her car. While clutching a bag of frozen peas to her swollen eye she manages to rescue the animal and make it home. But what’s she do with it after that?

Ian can’t believe his luck. After a stupid decision he’s been run out of every shifter territory he’s entered. Hoping Coyote Bluff would be different seems to have been his downfall. After a bunch of coyotes chase him through the night he finds himself being coddled by a tempting woman. His canine half is already in love with her.

Cammie’s ex comes calling, Ian’s found out by the local Alpha and the town seems bent on keeping them apart. Can they fight against everyone at once to find happiness together? Better question would be will Cammie accept Ian once he admits to being the wolf she so readily confided in and nursed back to health?

My Thoughts:

I liked Accidentally Yours and I liked Tempering Steel even more.

We see Cammie and Ian get their happy mating in this one but it focuses mostly on Connor and Margie. Connor is a moody and hunkalicious shifter who is the sheriff. Margie is a human woman who is also the town vet. She recently found out that shifters were real.

Connor had been deeply hurt before when a woman that he was in a relationship with left him for another man. Now he is hesitant to give another relationship a chance. He can't leave Margie alone though.

Margie is an excellent heroine. She is feisty, loyal and so very caring that it hurts at times. Margie is tired of Connor giving her the hot and cold treatment. She doesn't know his history and only knows that she hasn't done anything to deserve being treated gruffly.

Trouble comes to town and they spend more time together as a result.

This book is action packed. There is plenty of growling, shifting, aggression, charm, fur, tranquilizers, feistiness, bickering, and surprises.

This book will please readers who like shapeshifter stories and then some!

I received an ecopy of the book in exchange for my honest opinion. I am addicted to this series and these characters. I thought this book was very entertaining and I am eager for the next one!
