Rock Notes

Madison Tierney’s a writer, whose husband, Thomas suddenly left her after 10 years; she is destroyed and now recently alone and divorced. She picks herself up slowly trying to restore her lost confidence and ability to love again. She follows her writing passion and ventures to follow a local band - Rolling Isaac’s and write about them, raw and real and how they follow their dreams. Her book is titled ROCK NOTES.

Her ex-husband wants to come back, and she is torn with what she had for ten years with him which was safe, comforting and a committed relationship. And now she is falling hard for the band singer - Max Rand (Madison calls him Rand), who is several years younger than her and every moment with him is intense and unpredictable.

Rand has tragically lost love in his life. He has no love left to give. He fills his time with many groupies and late nights. The story travels you to various concert venues, from a sexy piercing party to a New Years rocking eve. There are many interruptions and assumptions for this couple along their journey.

While Madison is writing ROCK NOTES, somewhere along the way she begins to write LOVE NOTES, which are personal secret love letters for Rand. Also Rand is always writing music with the hope of creating his first solo album. Both Madison and Rand appear to be able to write their feelings on paper effortlessly but have a hard time conveying them to one another. This story is about being so broken inside from having your heart ripped apart, to attempting to rebuild trust, follow your dreams and hopefully find love.

Will she return to the warm awaiting arms of her ex-husband who still is in love with her? Or will there be a new beginning for Madison and Rand? Can these two empty souls feel love again? Or will what ignites between them simply fade away after the concert lights dim?

Excerpt -

Once my eyes closed, my thoughts turned to Rand, lost soul, lost love, so similar to me but then on stage he was so confident and sure of himself and his place in the world. That confidence was something that I lacked. He attacked the stage and all his charm and stunning looks dissolved those that set their eyes or minds on him. My mind kept trailing over and over about him.

His deep blue eyes, his messy dark hair that just swept over his shoulder, his towering height, his hidden inks. I could think of nothing but him.

I tensed for a moment when I felt someone hovering over me. I felt a breath and caught the scent of Rand fresh from a shower. I was lying on my side and I slightly opened my eyes. I knew I was seeing him, not dreaming. I could see him getting closer and I shut my eyes, remaining so very still. He reached down, took his curved fingers down my cheek, so slowly and tenderly and then he leaned in and kissed me on the forehead. Trailing his mouth down from my forehead he placed a soft kiss on the side of my neck and then moved upward to the tip of my shoulder and he lightly bit at my cami strap. I was so completely shocked and although I wanted to reach around and tell him I was awake, I couldn’t move. I had hopes that in the darkness he didn’t see me see peak out at him moments earlier. He then whispered, "Night Madison" and he tugged off my boots and pulled a light blanket over me.

When the sun appeared in the bedroom I awoke all nervous, I got up and went to the bathroom. I had to search my purse for items to make myself presentable. It had only been about four hours that I slept. I gathered my boots and put my sweater back on and went downstairs to find Rand already wide awake and in the kitchen making us some breakfast.

"I’m starving," he said looking at me like he was ready to devour me. "Madison what are you hungry for?"

He made me hesitate to answer him, I was definitely hungry for him. "I think I could eat something." My stomach was excited and jumping inside just from seeing him so relaxed and cooking.

"Your phone has been vibrating all morning."

"What’s vibrating?" I was too focused on his body and didn’t hear his words.

"Your phone, you left it on the steps last night with your computer."

"Oh, okay that’s what was vibrating." I was still watching his body in motion, and was thinking of how I would like him to make me stir. He caught me staring at him and I looked away and then I remembered I had silenced my phone during their practice and then powered it up when we walked over to the house. I had to pull myself together so I went to retrieve my phone and I looked at all the missed messages, they were from Jillian. I hollered back, "Rand, I just need a few minutes to check my messages." I went into his main front room and dialed her back.

"Where the hell are you?" Jillian yelled. She was so worried that I hadn’t called her and she stopped by my place having her own key and I was no where to be found. It took some effort to calm her but I told her briefly what had happened since the concert.

"Jillian can you take me to Philly today to get my car? I don’t want to put Rand out anymore. I’ll just see if he can bring me back to my house."

"I’ll agree only on one condition, I want every single detail, don’t leave anything out, I want all of them!" I had to put my hand over the phone as she said this. She was so loud and I hoped Rand did not hear any of this.

"Hey, I should go, I don’t want to be rude, he is making me breakfast," I whispered to her.

"No I bet you’re his breakfast…but I’ll come get you at noon. You can tell me then how great this sexy man is."

I didn’t get to comment, as she hung up too quickly. Rand flashed me a sexy smile when I returned to the kitchen, I wasn’t sure if he heard any of our conversation. I did look up at the high ceiling in his house and knew each word spoken echoed.

Cover reveal ~ FINDING OUR FOREVER by Lan LLP

Author Info

Over a long year ago, I picked up a pen and wrote the first sentence of a fantasy that I’ve imagined ever since I was a daydreaming little girl—minus the steamy parts of course. That initial sentence was the seed that grew into my flowering romance book, “Beginning with Forever.” With all my heart, I wrote, rewrote, edited, re-edited and now, I’m finally ready to share it with all of you. My one and only aspiration for this book is to have readers embrace my story and characters with their heart. If I can make someone laugh till their gut hurts, hate with vengeance, cry till their eyes dry out, fall in love all over again, drool over the hero or feel any other emotions, than I’ve succeeded my goal.

I’m the sappiest person in the world when it comes to romance. Don’t laugh! I believe in love at first sight, Prince Charming or Mr. Hot Billionaire in my book, and happy endings. In my heart, every women deserves all three, and they will when they lose themselves in my books. Your fantasy can become your reality with just the flip of a page, so come join me.

Interview with C.L. Wilson, author of The Winter King, giveaway as well

Book Description:

Wynter Atrialan, the Winter King, once lived in peace with his southern, Summerlander neighbors, but when Falcon, the prince of Summerlea, stole Wynter’s bride and murdered his young brother, Wynter vows vengeance. Calling upon a dangerous Wintercraig magic called the Ice Heart, he gathers his armies and marches against Summerlea, crushing their armies and spreading icy winter in his wake.

After three long, bitter years of battle, Summerlea is defeated and Wynter comes to the heart of the kingdom to issue his terms for their surrender. The prince of Summerlea stole Wynter’s bride and slew Wynter’s Heir. He wants the loss replaced. The Ice Heart is consuming him. Wynter hopes holding his own child in his arms will rekindle the warmth of love and melt the Ice Heart before he becomes the monster of Wintercraig legend, the Ice King.

The Summer King has three very precious daughters whom he loves dearly. Wynter will take one of them to wife. She will have one year to provide him with an Heir. If she fails, he will turn her out in the ice and snow of the mountains and claim another princess for his wife. And so it will continue until Wynter has his Heir or the Summer King is out of daughters. All the while, Wynter will enjoy the vengeance of knowing the Summer King will suffer each day without his beloved daughter(s), as Wynter suffers each day without his own beloved brother.

The plan is perfect—except for one small detail. The Summer King has a fourth daughter. One of which he is not so fond.

Blamed as a child for the death of her beloved mother, Khamsin Coruscate, the forgotten princess of Summerlea, has spent her life hidden from the world like an embarrassing secret. Dressed in cast-off gowns and left to her own devices, with only the determination of her loyal nursemaid to ensure she receives the education befitting an Heir to the Summer Throne, Khamsin haunts the abandoned towers and gardens of Summerlea’s royal palace, close to her beloved late mother’s treasures, and waits for the day her father will recognize her as a Princess of the Rose. But though she dreams of the valor and sacrifices of ancient Summerlea heroes and pines for paternal love that will never come, Khamsin is no sweet, gentle, helpless princess-in-a-tower. She is a fiercely passionate creature with a volatile, rebellious temper that is often as reckless and destructive as the dangerous forces of her weathergift, the power of storms.

Together will their stormy personalities be able to meld or will their powers destroy not only their love but the whole world?

Prologue ~ Scarlet on Snow

King’s Keep

Vera Sola, Summerlea

“Do you have to go?” Seventeen year old Khamsin Coruscate clung to her beloved brother’s hand as if by her grip alone she could anchor him fast and keep him from leaving.

“You know I do. Our treaties with the Winter King are very important.”

“But you’ll be home soon?” Whenever he was gone, the ancient walls of the royal palace of Summerlea that had been her home and her prison since birth seemed somehow more confining, more restrictive.

“Not this time, little sister.” Falcon shook his head. A strand of black hair that had pulled free of the queue at the back of his neck brushed against the soft, dark skin of his cheek. “It will take weeks to negotiate the treaties.”

Khamsin scowled, and the wind began to gust, sending Kham’s habitually untamed hair whipping into her mouth and eyes. “Why does he have to send you? Why can’t his ambassador negotiate the treaty? He’s sending you away because of me, isn’t he? Because he doesn’t want you spending so much time with me.” Her hands clenched into fists. The wind sent her skirts flying and a dark cloud rolled across the sun.

Their father, King Verdan IV of Summerlea, didn’t love her. She knew that. He kept her isolated in a remote part of the palace, hidden away from his court and his kingdom, on the pretext that her weathergifts were too volatile and dangerous and she couldn’t control them. That was all true. Kham’s gifts were dangerous, and she couldn’t control them any better than she could control her own temper. Until now, however, he’d never stooped to sending his other children away to keep them from visiting her.

“Here now. Be calm.” Falcon smoothed her wayward curls back, tucking them behind her ears. Compassion and pity shone softly in his eyes. “I wish I didn’t have to leave you. But Father believes I’ll have the best chance of getting what we want from Wintercraig, and I agree with him.” Summerlea, once a rich, thriving kingdom renowned for its fertile fields and abundant orchards, had been in a slow decline for years. Although the nobles and king maintained a prosperous fa├žade for political and economic purposes, beneath the gilded domes and bright splendor of Summerlea’s palaces and grand estates, the rough tatters of neglect were beginning to show. “Besides, you won’t be alone while I’m gone. You have Tildy and the Seasons.”

“It isn’t the same. They aren’t you.” He was the handsome Prince of Summerlea, charming, witty, heroic. He’d lived a life of adventure, most of which he shared with her, entertaining her with the tales of his exploits…the places he’d seen, the people he’d met. His hunts, his adventures, his triumphs. No matter how much her nursemaid, Tildavera Greenleaf, doted on Khamsin, or how often the three other princesses, Autumn, Spring, and Summer, snuck away from their palace duties to spend time with their ostracized youngest sister, Falcon was the one whose visits she couldn’t live without.

“Now there’s a pretty compliment. Careful, my lady. You’ll turn my head.” He smiled, and warmth poured into her. It was no wonder the ladies of their father’s court swooned at the slightest attention from him. Falcon had a magical way about him. He could he literally charm the birds from the trees with his name-gift—controlling any feathered creature on a whim--and the weathergift inherent in his royal Summerlander blood was stronger than it had been in any crown prince in generations. It was as if the Sun itself had taken up residence in his soul, and its warmth spilled from him each time he smiled.

Kham took a deep breath. The sharp edge of her temper abated, and in the skies, the gathering storm began to calm. Perhaps King Verdan truly had chosen to send his only son as envoy to Wintercraig for political reasons. Long, long ago, as a small child crying herself to sleep, she’d decided Falcon was the reincarnation of Roland Triumphant, the Hero of Summerlea, the brave King who had defeated an overwhelming invasion force with his wit, his weathergifts, and a legendary sword reputed to be a gift from the Sun God himself. If anyone could charm the cold, savage folk of the north into concessions most favorable to Summerlea, Falcon could.

“Will you at least write to me?” she asked.

“I’ll send you a bird every week.” He tapped her nose and gave her a charming, roguish grin. “Cheer up. Just think of all the swordfights you’ll win when you’re fighting invisible opponents instead of me.”

Kham rolled her eyes. He’d been teaching her sword-fighting for years, but she had yet to best him in a match.

“You know,” she said as they walked towards the doorway leading back into the palace, “it might actually be a good thing that you’ll be spending months in Wintercraig.”

“Oh?”

“Yes. You can use that time to find out what happened to Roland’s sword.”

Falcon tripped on an uneven flagstone and grabbed the trunk of a nearby tree to steady himself. “I’m sure I’ll be much too busy to chase fairy tales, Storm.”

She frowned in surprise. “But you’ve always believed the stories were true.” Blazing, the legendary sword of Roland Soldeus, had disappeared shortly after the heroic king’s death. Legend claimed it was the Winter King, the father of Roland’s betrothed, who had spirited the sword away so Roland’s brother Donal couldn’t claim it. Every royal Summerlea Heir for the last two millennia had dreamed of finding the legendary blade and bringing it back home where it belonged. Falcon had spent years chasing lead after lead, determined that he would be the one to find Blazing and restore Summerlea to its former glory.

“What about those letters?” she added. “The really old ones you found tucked in that monastery? You said they proved the stories were true.”

“That was six years ago. I was seventeen. I wanted the stories to be true.” He gave her a quick hug and a brotherly kiss on the forehead. “I’ve got to run. I’m meeting with Father and his advisors to go over our list of demands and concessions one last time before I leave. I’ll see you in a few months.”

“I’ll miss you every day.” She trailed after him, feeling bereft and forlorn when Falcon turned the corner and disappeared from view. But this time, she also felt confused. She’d never known Falcon to give up on something he felt passionately about. And he’d been passionate about finding Roland’s sword. He’d been certain he was on the right trail. He’d shared his discoveries with her because he knew she was just as hungry as he to find the legendary sword.

So why would he deny it now?

About the Author:

C. L. WILSON grew up camping and waterskiing across America, from Cherry Creek reservoir in Denver, CO, to Lake Gaston on the border of Virginia and North Carolina, to Georgia’s Lake Lanier and Lake Allatoona. When she wasn’t waterskiing and camping on family vacations, you could usually find her with a book in one hand and a sketch pad in the other—either reading, writing stories, or drawing. Sometime around the ninth grade, she decided she was better at drawing her pictures with words than paints and charcoals, and she set aside her sketchpad to focus entirely on writing.

Wilson is active in Tampa Area Romance Authors (TARA), her local chapter of Romance Writers of America. When not engaged in writerly pursuits, she enjoys golfing, swimming, reading, playing video games with her children, and spending time with her friends and family. She is also an avid collector (her husband says pack rat!), and she’s the proud owner of an extensive collection of Dept. 56 Dickens and North Pole villages, unicorns, Lladro figurines, and mint condition comic books.

Wilson currently resides with her husband, their three wonderful children, and their little black cat, Oreo, in a secluded ranch community less than thirty miles away from the crystalline waters and sugar-sand beaches of Anna Maria Island and Siesta Key on Florida’s gulf coast.

I was able to interview C.L. Wilson and this is what she shared:

What part of writing do you find the most challenging? The most enjoyable?

The most challenging part of writing to me is filling that blank page to begin with. It can be pretty daunting. And then, once the page is filled, I have to go over and over it many times. I’m an incurable revisionist and line editor. My publisher pretty much has to drag each manuscript out of my ink- and tear-stained hands.

Having filled that blank page and then going back to reading what I’ve written (and revised) and thinking, “Hmm, I really like this!” is among the most enjoyable parts of the job, to me, although meeting readers and making new friends has to be right up there. I love getting mail from people who have enjoyed my books.

What do you hope people get out of reading your book?

I hope that the people who pick up my books get to spend a few hours being thoroughly entertained. I hope that the characters become friends they’d like to revisit again. Basically, I hope they get from my books, the same enjoyment that I get from so many of my favorite reads from the authors I love.

It’s a complete thrill when someone writes to let me know that escaping into one of my books helped them through a tough time.

What are you working on and when can we expect it to be out?

I’m currently working on THE SEA KING, a new book set in the same world as THE WINTER KING. It features characters we meet in THE WINTER KING. (Anyone who reads THE WINTER KING should be able to immediately identify who the Sea King is ) The book is scheduled to come out next summer.

After that, I head back to the Fading Lands (setting of my first five books, the Tairen Soul series) to writes stories for some of the series’ most beloved characters, starting with Belliard vel Jelani.

What is your favorite summer activity?

I love water skiing, floating in the lake and kicking back with friends, and boating with my family and friends. I love jet skiing, too, especially in the Gulf.

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?

Oh, so easy. Bluebell’s Nutty Chocolate. Which is IMPOSSIBLE to find. Gah.

Do you prefer to go to the theater or wait for the DVD?

It depends on the movie. Big, spectacular special effects movies are theater-worthy. You can’t beat the big screen for things like that. I am with you on that!

What is a trait, characteristic, feature, quality, attribute, idiosyncrasy, mannerism, peculiarity, or quirk that is unique to you?

I can’t stand beignets, funnel cakes, squishy (non-cake) donuts, or sodas. Blech. I also love romance novels, write romance, and yet married a man without a romantic bone in his body. And I still adore him, unromantic lump that he is. Go figure. LOL! You are too funny!

What is your favorite or least favorite fruit?

LEAST Favorite - Red delicious apples. (Fujis, I like.) Favorite – Mango, and watermelon

What types or genres of books do you like to read?

Romance, Fantasy, Urban Fantasy are my favorites.

What type of music do you listen to?

When writing? Movie soundtracks or music for my brain (bi-aural CDs from Brain Sync to stimulate focus and creativity). When not writing? Pretty much everything except rap and the jazz that includes cymbals being tapped with those wire whisk thingies. (That sound rakes my nerves the wrong way.) :-)

What is your biggest weakness?

Besides Godiva chocolate? Ha! I’m not telling!

What is your summer beverage of choice?

Ice water and really good lemonade. I love lemonade too!

Would we find you inside or outside?

Inside. Especially in FL in the summer.

What is your favorite type of supernatural creature to read about and write about?

Read about – well, I love Nalini Singh’s psy-changelings, Thea Harrison’s Elder Races, Christine Feehan’s Carpathians, and Kresley Cole’s Immortals after Dark. I’m pretty eclectic on the supernatural creature love front. You fit in perfectly here! We love those books too!

My favorite to write about is the tairen from my Tairen Soul series. They are big, sentient cats…and writing cats can be quite a lot of fun.

The creature I dislike most, however, is whiny, woe-is-me vampires. Give me Lestat over Louis any day. :-)

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions.

Thanks so much for having me, Brenda!

Release Day Blitz ~ Pyros: A DarkWorld Origins Novel

Meet The Author

I have been a writer from the time I was old enough to recognise that reading was a doorway into my imagination. Poetry was my first foray into the art of the written word. Books were my best friends, my escape, my haven. I am essentially a recluse but this part of my personality is impossible to practice given I have two teenage daughters, who are actually my friends, my tea-makers, my confidantes… I am blessed with a husband who has left me for golf. It’s a fair trade as I have left him for writing. We are both passionate supporters of each other's loves – it works wonderfully…

My heart is currently broken in two. One half resides in South Africa where my old roots still remain, and my heart still longs for the endless beaches and the smell of moist soil after a summer downpour. My love for Ma Afrika will never fade. The other half of me has been transplanted to the Land of the Long White Cloud. The land of the Taniwha, beautiful Maraes, and volcanoes. The land of green, pure beauty that truly inspires. And because I am so torn between these two lands – I shall forever remain cross-eyed.

It was supposed to be a special day.

Logan Westin's mother had promised to take him to his favorite diner. The one he loved to look at when they walked past on their way to the bus stop. Sometimes he'd slow down. Press his hands to the window and peer inside. Logan loved the look of the red-cushioned seated and the bright gleaming chrome.

Today was his chance to go inside and mother had said she'd get them strawberry milkshakes.

Logan was so excited he couldn't walk. He had to hop or run, do something more than just stroll along as if their destination wasn't a place that made him so excited he wanted to laugh out loud.

But Logan didn't laugh. Father wouldn't approve. And even though Father no longer lived with them, Logan knew he had to be careful. For Mother and for... For? Who else was he meant to protect?

Logan frowned and skidded to a stop in front of the diner. When he pushed the door open he inhaled the smells, and it all made him giddy with excitement. Coffee, and cooking meat and the polish from the black-and-white checkered linoleum beneath his feet. He pasted a huge grin on his face as he walked inside. Mother followed closely by a little girl whose laughter tickled his insides. She was as excited to be there as he was. They'd waited for so long.

When Logan turned to pull her pigtails he paused, stunned and confused. There was no one there. Even though her laughter still rang through the diner, the haunting sound so filled with happiness, so innocent and bubbly. He knew that voice. Knew if he reached out she'd hold his hand and her skin would be soft and smooth. Knew she'd grab his hand and pull him inside and accuse him of dragging his feet.

But there was nobody beside him.

If you haven't already discovered T.G. Ayer, you are missing out. I haven't read Pyros yet but I have read and reviewed Skin Deep.

That is if both of us live long enough to complete her training.

Excerpt:

I can’t move. I’m dying.

For an instant, I imagine someone finding my body. Will birds gather to peck at me? Is that how I’ll be discovered? By someone attracted by unusual animal activity?

For a moment I consider who might find me. Will it be someone I know? I can almost hear them yell, “Holy shit, that’s Paul Jarman!”

An excruciating spasm assaults me. My lungs seize. My body convulses. Internally, every part of me screams. My mouth falls open – but instead of shrieking, only a soft hiss issues from my throat, heralding my agony and despair.

The sound is pathetic. Is that tiny utterance the last noise I’m capable of making before I die?

There’s no one nearby to hear me, even if I’d been able to scream.

I’ve never been so alone.

I’ve also never felt such unbearable pain. Time stops. There’s only this one eternal moment, the agony of now.

I’m twenty-six years old. I’m too young to die. I’ve been an idiot most of my life. I’ve been an asshole… but just recently, I’ve learned so much. Everything has been coming together. If I live, I really think that I can make something of myself.

But I’m not going to live.

Inexorable pressure, like the invisible hand of some cruel giant, pushes down hard on my chest. No air! Each breath I take becomes more and more difficult. Wow. Is this what it feels like to be starved for oxygen? As a Dom I like breath play. It’s kind of karmic to be on the other side.

But I sure as fuck don’t get an erotic thrill from this.

I’m dizzy. My vision tunnels. The physical pain fades, but sadness stabs at me. This agony of heart and soul is intense. It’s worse than any bodily torment.

I have so many regrets.

My biggest sorrow comes from the thought of losing Emily. Not only losing her, but leaving her. Not being there for her. My one pure and perfect joy has come from Emily. I’m so grateful that I’ve had her in my life. She’s taught me so much.

If only we had more time together.

My sweet girl will be distraught. I can’t imagine how she will deal with my death. With all that I’m enduring, the thought of her pain is more than I can take. I forcefully shove the reflection away. I wish I could protect her from this.

Blood continues to pump from me. I feel its warmth flowing onto my chest. I’m floating in a mental haze. As I near death, I enter a strangely comfortable state of philosophical delirium.

Is it better to kill…or to be killed?

What if you took another person’s life by accident… say perhaps, through a moment of incompetent or distracted driving? That would create a burden of guilt that you’d have to live with for the rest of your life. It might even drive a person to suicide.

Premeditated murder assumes that one’s conscience is reconciled to committing such a sin. Once reaching that point, guilt and regret wouldn’t be an issue.

What about an impulsive murder of passion? Can one honestly justify killing another by pleading temporary insanity? Would a temporary loss of control lessen the burden of guilt afterwards? Even if someone still died by your hands?

But I’m not crazy. My actions didn’t result from temporary insanity. For me, it was pure animal instinct.

I killed on purpose.

As my life drains away, I smile because I know that if I had the chance, I’d do it again. Committing murder is one thing that I don’t regret.

Nikki Sex writes sexy contemporary romance, often involving a bit of kink. She's a sucker for Happy Ever After endings, so no matter how dark my stories get, fear not! It always all works out in the end.

Adult Excerpt: from MASTERED:

His Secret - Portia Da Costa - Excerpt #1

Her heart thud-a-thudding, she opened the bathroom door.

Ben was lying on the bed, fully clothed and reading a magazine. He had a glass in his hand that contained an inch of amber fluid she guessed was whisky, and as she entered, he put it to his lips and took a leisurely sip. His eyes were on her though, staring over the rim at her intently as he swallowed.

He looked like a young god idly perusing his lowly subject.

“I thought we’d take a late dinner,” he said casually, then took another sip of his drink. “Unless you’re hungry now?”

Only for you. Only for you.

“I… er… I’m fine. Thanks.”

The answer sounded woefully incomplete, as if there should have been more.

It was astonishing how easy it would have been to add the word “master.”

“Good!” he said with a strangely satisfied smile, then he finished his whisky, set the glass aside, and sprang lightly to his feet. “I think I’ll freshen up. I won’t be a moment.”

As he walked toward the bathroom, he paused and looked back pointedly at the magazine on the bed.

He wants me to read it.

Then, with another small, knowing smile, he disappeared, closing the door behind him with a decisive snick.

For a moment, Sarah was frozen in place. Why was she afraid of a magazine? She’d read that book Maggie had been passing around, and this was only the same sort of thing, but with pictures. What was wrong with her, why was she being such a scaredy-cat?

But the shiny pages seemed to reach out and taunt her from across the room. Still not looking at it, she grabbed Ben’s glass, sloshed a little more whisky into it, and gulped the drink down, making herself cough. Panicking, she refilled it with water and sipped a bit of that, slowly. She didn’t want to get tipsy by mixing spirits with the champagne already in her.

When she sat down and started to flick through the pages, she discovered that the magazine was exactly what she’d feared—hoped?—it might be.

It was a bondage journal.

Full of erotic corporal punishment.

A high-quality, beautifully produced publication, but a spanking magazine nevertheless.

As she perused an image of an exotic dark-haired woman in a black corset draped across a stern-looking man’s knee and being spanked, everything about her confused feelings for Ben dropped perfectly into place. And her reaction to the tap on her rump made crystal-clear sense.

This is it. Exactly it. This is what he really likes. And so do I… I think.

The sound of the bathroom door opening made her jump physically into the air and sent the magazine slithering to the floor. Ben walked swiftly across, picked it up, and studied the same image Sarah had been looking at. He’d removed his tie, she noticed, and unbuttoned his waistcoat and rolled up the sleeves of his shirt.

Her heart did a flip as he closed the magazine, set it on the bedside table, and sat down beside her.

“I guess you know what I want now, don’t you?” His brown eyes were luminous, like the whisky with a brilliant light shining through it.

Sarah’s tongue cleaved to the roof of her mouth, but after a moment, she managed to gasp, “Yes!”

Ben’s eyes were unwavering upon her, searching, searching.

“It’s your choice, Sarah… I don’t want us to do anything you don’t like. We can simply have a delightful weekend here… relax, walk, enjoy good food and wine”—he paused for a second—“make love… Nothing more than that.”

She found her voice again. “But this…” She gestured to the magazine. “This is what you want, isn’t it?”

His shoulders lifted in the slightest of shrugs. “It is… it is…”

The air in the room seemed heavy and difficult to draw in. But Sarah pulled in a lungful of it, straightened her spine, and looked at him as bravely as she could.

“Then I want it too.”

My Thoughts:

I read almost all of these books and let me tell you, whoo wee! These are adult only reads if you haven't already figured it out!

If you want to try out various types of erotic reading this sample will be perfect for you. There are books with menages, spanking, alpha males, dominating females, bosses with balls, toys, secrets, etc.... Truly, there is something for every erotic book lover. Most of these books are about 4 chapters and very quick reads. There are a few that have more though and these were my favorites because I am greedy and you won't catch me complaining about more pages.

Working Out was my favorite and I believe the longest book in this selection. I liked each of the books that I read though. If I had gotten the book sooner or not been in the middle of reading it when a family friend passed away, I definitely would have finished. As you can imagine, receiving that news killed the mood and I can only read when the mood fits the material. If I try to force it, I end up not liking what I'm reading because it is not what I'm in the mood or mind frame for. Do you understand?

Anyway, what I was trying to explain was simply that the reason that I didn't finish was not because anything was wrong with any of the books. I highly doubt that when considering each of the ones that I did read.

These books were highly erotic, super sexy and great for getting you in the mood for some good lovin of your own.

If you like your reads fast and hot, or if you want to try something new and don't know if you'll like it, this compilation is a great choice for you. You can't beat the price or the selection!

I received an ecopy in exchange for my honest opinion.  Have a fire extinguisher near when reading these books in case of self combustion! They are scorching hot!
